World Superbike race one was eighteen long laps of a cool and windy Aragon circuit with a race contender at the back of the grid. The long back straight favours the Ducati, but the Hondas are also able to take advantage of it with their straight-line speed finding somewhere where it can mask their disadvantages. Garrett Gerloff's team headed the daftest sunglasses challenge on the grid with Gerloff honouring the Cylons in his choice of eyewear.

Fifteen minutes at 21ºC, round a long track, World Superbike qualifying had few opportunities to set a quick lap, all eyes were on the red bikes down the long straight that made up the fourth sector. 

Ducatis led Yamahas led Kawasakis, but not the riders you'd expect. Danilo Petrucci led Alvaro Bautista with Remy Gardner heading Andrea Locatelli. Florian Marino, standing in for Alex Lowes, beat Jonathan Rea to fifth place with Garrett Gerloff seventh quickest.

World Supersport Superpole qualifying was twenty minutes off the MotorLand Aragon circuit to determine the grid positions for today and tomorrow's races. A cool wind crossed the track to keep conditions interesting. The session was interrupted by a red flag, adding the option of a two-stop strategy to the session, but the track was too long for this to make sense.
