Points Validity
I am confused here. I thought the sprint race points did not count towards deciding the championship winner but apparently according to your title ("championship standing") they do.

They do count toward the…
They do count toward the championship. Supposedly they don't count as Grands Prix results for the purposes of tallying career wins, podiums, and poles. That's my understanding. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

Dorna and the FIM are indeed…
Dorna and the FIM are indeed desperate for everyone to count Sprint wins as separate from GP wins. I think that's hooey and it won't last to the end of the year, Pecco won 2 races this weekend, if they don't want to call it a race, don't hold a race.

I think you’re right
Although every pole nets you two poles: If you have pole for the sprint, you have pole for the “main” as well, but it doesn’t count as two poles.

Correct. Points go towards…
Correct. Points go towards overall championship but a sprint win is just that. Doesn't count as a grand prix win nor does a podium in the sprint race count as a grand prix podium.
Sprint wins will be in their own 'column'. This is so it doesnt affect the record books.

multi champions
So at the end of the year we have
- the Championship winner (sprint + GP points)
- the sprint champion
- the GP champion.
Which is the most important / has the most prestige? Do we even care anymore? Talk about replacing quality with quantity. I feel this will be Ezpeleta's biggest cock-up ever which is a shame because the sprint racing IS exciting but devaluing your main product does not make good business sense.

Do Sprint Races devalue the WSBK World Championship?
I don’t think that they do. In the end the rider who accumulates the most points wins the Championship. Nothing else matters. I like the new format. Risky but exciting.

WSBK race 3 times in a…
WSBK race 3 times in a weekend but their race meetings are less frequent so there is more recovery time.
My concern with Motogp is given the frequency of races and with the addition of sprint races - the risk of injury has doubled and there isn't the recovery. Pol for example is already on the backfoot.
Even if you are considered a clean racer - it doesn't stop you being taken out by another rider.

The Ducati Advantage
The way that AM73's year old bike cruised past the KTM on the straight must be a concern.

AM will win a race this year for sure. So will Mav.

I’d like to see Mav gets that third manufacturer win—that would be a story! Although I’d be fine with Jack getting there first.

AM is a lot less dangerous than MM. I thought AM had a great race - he has taken well to that Ducati.

Sorry Enea Bastianini
Sorry Enea Bastianini, it's all my fault.
I picked EB23 to win the championship. in the top5 plus Indi. So of corse Bastianini was torpedoed in the first sprint race, probably not going to Argentina. Maybe not COTA either.
That's racing.

Yes I'll have it
Thanks Matonge
Yes I would love to have EB23's number. As another Ducatista we are family anyway.
mea culpa
We're all mostly focused on the Marc drama, and Pecco's win. But may I mention Maverick?
I never really liked him. I felt--and posted--that he was immature, the king of testing, always faded in the race, and was the poster child for self-centered, whiney, would-be stars when he rode for Yamaha. Could not get out of his own way and blamed everyone else for his problems. He would never be successful.
Well gee, maybe I was right about the immaturity, but I sure was wrong about success!
Maverick has grown up, and I am really enjoying watching him race this season.
