Please note that although there's the facility to upload images directly into the forum, this uses up valuable server space and costs MotoGPMatters.com money, which we'd rather use on keeping on improving the race coverage for the website. For this reason, we've disabled the feature
When posting pictures, use an external image hosting site such as Photobucket or ImageShack.
Both are free to join (no joining is actually necessary for Imageshack) and very easy to use.
The basic principle here is that you upload a picture to the photo hosting website, copy the URL (the web address) of the photo you have uploaded, and then in a post, press the Img button, and copy the URL in between the two tags saying
Code: Select all
Instructions for PHOTOBUCKET.COM
Once you've created an account with Photobucket, it will bring up a screen where you can start uploading pictures.
Choose the pic you want to upload. It will then bring up your picture as a thumbnail with four links underneath it (email & im, direct link, HTML code and IMG code)
Click on the edit button above your picture, and then click on Resize. It will give you several preset options - Tiny (100pixels x 75 pixels), Small (160x120) and Medium (320x240). You can select any of these or use the slider option and resize it manually. Please keep it below 600 x 600 pixels. Hit the "save a copy" button, then wait a few seconds while it re-sizes the image.
All you need to do now is to copy and paste the IMG code - forums & bulletin boards (on the right of the pic) into the post you are writing on the forum. When you hit preview or send your pic will appear the correct size.
Instructions for IMAGESHACK.US
1) Head on over to http://www.imageshack.us
2) Hit the "choose file" button.
3) Select the image from your computer
4) Hit the "host it!" button. (ensuring your original image is under the 1.53mb limit) Wait a few seconds...
5) ... then copy either of the "thumbnail for forums 1" link at the top and paste it into the message you're writing on the forum.
You can also use either of the "hotlink for forums 1" option at the bottom if the image is under 600 pixels wide - remember, if the pic's too big to begin with you can always use photobucket instead.
If it sounds tricky then it's not, honest. Just give it a go, it's FREE to use - what's the worst that could happen?
