Site outage

Post by phoenix1 »

Hello, Krop.

I am not complaining, and I have not been inconvenienced in any way. However, I do know that you have had some minor issues with your hosting company. Around 7pm EST (1:00am CEST) I experienced some intermittent site outages and a message from the hosting company saying the site is down. Minor stuff.

I'm assuming you're asleep right now so I'm just documenting it, in case you need to bring it up with them.

Thanks for that.

The problem occurs when I run the twice daily DB backups. The site has grown to be surprisingly large, and so the backups have grown to be large as well, and they consume quite a lot of resources while they are being made (twice a day). I'm working on making them slightly less of a burden on the system.

I figured the site was having problems because you relocated it to a data center in Iceland.

My MySQL needed tweaking. Got that done, and it's sweet as a nut.
