New Zealand Superbikes, 600, Supertwins etc.

Talk about national motorcycle racing series: AMA, BSB, Australian or Japanese Superbikes, IDM, CIV, CEV, Irish Road Racing, TT, whatever takes your fancy.

Supersport 600 race 3 round two
Two rows of four bikes into the right left flip flop off the start, didn't quite catch the leaders.
My attention was on Toby Summers going around the outside of Rogan Chandler and holding the inside line through turn two & the double left turn three.
Rogan Chandler took back fourth at the end of the straight halfway through lap two, Toby Summers passed him again before the end of lap 2.
Rogan Chandler passed Toby Summers on the straight middle of lap 4.
I started breathing again.
Bunch of five bikes at the front. Dale Finch, Richie Dibben, Ashton Hughes, Rogan Chandler, Toby Summers. All close to lap record pace.

With three laps to go Rogan Chandler took 3rd at the end of the straight, his favorite passing spot at Levels.
Dale Finch and Richie Dibben swapped places a few times at the front. Dale securing the win from Richie Dibben. Ashton Hughes passed Rogan Chandler half way around the final lap to take third on the podium.

600 championship points after round two
Richie Dibben leading on 146 points
Ashton Hughes second 92
Dale Finch 79
Rogan Chandler 72
Toby Summers 61
David Hall 56

Thanks for the writeup. Timaru looks like a reasonably safe circuit https://youtu.be/gyzVk9rEUtQ

Is that if for NZ for you?

BTY it looks like all of the races will end up on youtube, here's round 1 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ajt7oWo ... zg0scHPWYQ

What do you guys make of Shane Richardson? Think he was helped over to the BSB paddock by a certain Peter Hickman who raced over your way last xmas/ new year

First answer; I don't know. Cannot remember hearing about him. Haven't seen him race in NZ or Oz as far as I can remember.

After a quick search of the twitsphere; seems like Shane Richardson has done quite a bit of motorcycle racing.
He has survived racing at the cemetery circuit.
He has raced against Damon Rees who is top of the NZSBK riders this year. Damon Rees is heading to BSB in 2020 as well, if he sells enough raffle tickets.
Shane Richardson is 24. To me that is young, he has raced supersport & superbike.

Good luck to him.

It is on again! Motorcycle racing in NZ.
The Suzuki series starts this weekend, clashing with the final races in OZ.

Cemetery circuit is running street races on Boxing day 26/12/2020. Which was bloody good fun last year.

I'm not traveling to NZ this time.

I am not there this year. So having a bit of a look on the interwebs from time to time. Not much change, that I can see, from last season. Damon Rees is one of the best NZ riders and would be around top six or top ten in ASBK.

The final two rounds of NZSBK are coming up in March.
Round 3 at Hampton Downs, on the 6th & 7th of March.
Round 4 at Taupo the weekend after 13 & 14 March '21.

http://www.nzsbk.co.nz/race-venues/#round3

Both on the North island. It would be fun to flit over there for 10 days or so. Wonder if that will be possible?

The virus is in charge of my travel plans.

Unlikely the border will be open though Ardern has been talking about having different agreements with different states

Another viral disappointment! Round 3 of the New Zealand tiles postponed. Covid 19 again.

Looks like it may go ahead later. The round at Taupo scheduled for the coming weekend may well be effected to.

That's racing.
