BSB 2022

Post by Apical »

Testing testing.
Seems the UK has thawed out enough for some motorcycle riding. The test at Snetterton finished yesterday.

Next test is the BSB Official test Donington next Thursday 31 March.

Tom Sykes seems to be doing what he needs to do right now.

The Showdown should be a cracker this year. Interested to see how Brad Ray and Kyle Ride go on Yamahas this year. Feel like they were hot prospects that have habitually underachieved so far, maybe it was the BMW though.

The first round is over.

Reigning champ Tarran Mackenzie didn't ride in round 1.

Very good results for Honda's lead rider at the first round. Somewhat surprising to me. Number 2 rider Tom Neave scored points in all three races.

"Old" Tom Sykes did alright in his first race on the Ducati 12th for 4 points. Then had a DNF in race 2, 16th in race 3 = no points there.

Championship points so far, top ten from MCN, I'm responsible for the rest.

1st Glenn Irwin 75
2nd Kyle Ryde 46
3rd Rory Skinner 42
4th Andrew Irwin 37
5th Bradley Ray 36
6th Jason O’Halloran 32
7th Lee Jackson 28
8th Tommy Bridewell 26
9th Danny Buchan 23
10th Peter Hickman 21
11th Christian Iddon 19
12th Josh Brookes 8
13th Tom Neave 7
14th Tom Sykes 4
15th Josh Brookes 3
16th Danny Kent 1

Motoshrink found some videos. First time I've seen the action from round one.

"Curious how many folks are increasing interest in BSB right now too. Newer fans coming? Do older BSB fans think it is hitting a good season/era? (Silverstone spoiler below)

Impressive pace, close racing. Glen Irwin, pretty beat up from injury and on a Honda, just managed Q like pace for a Silverstone race. Newer kids on Yamahas were fast. The Duc, which has been really strong, isn't at its best...yet? Anyhoo, perhaps if people watch Silverstone they will want to follow the season? The spec of bike is cool and interesting. The Suzuki is included. The TRACKS are the best part for me.

Race 1, 4 mins highlights

6 mins Race 2. Odd edit focuses on the crash-festival aspect. Last laps of Top 2 riders offers much.

6 mins Race 3, great look at lovely knife fight for 3rd. Then some post-race viewing.

Deep dive, have you enjoyed the annual 45 min "Season Preview?" It came out a week previous to Round 1."

Big field, BSB must be one of the most popular national superbike series

A lot of crashes in the second race

Round Two run and done. Three races at least one new winner, Lee Jackson! I saw him win at the Cemetery circuit Whanganui NZ.

Brad ray won race 1 & race 2! On the Rich OMG Yamaha. Third in race 3.

Rory Skinner had a good weekend.

Tommy Bridewell had a decent weekend, one second place, a sixth. I couldn't find his result in race 2. The best of the Ducatis.

Josh Brookes had an up & down meeting. 8th, 10th and 4th over the weekend.

I'm not super happy with the BSB website, does anyone know somewhere better for results etc?

Thanks Schwantz34 https://redirect.viglink.com/?format=go ... rtnews.com works for me. How was Donington? Looked good, hope you didn't get sunburnt.

BSB at Brands Hatch Gp this weekend should be entertaining. I quite like that track. Who do you fancy?

Tommy Bridewell 46 seems confident. I would like to see him go well. Number 46 not retired in BSB.

You're welcome. It was great to see Toprak win the Sunday races, even if the superpole race was a bit processional. Donington is a great track without doubt, but I feel it's a better watch on the TV because you're so far away from the action. That said, if you sit on the inside of Craner/ Old Hairpin you can see half the track.

Believe it or not I'm heading down to Brands Hatch on Sunday too, it is without doubt the best track in the UK for spectating. I love the place, if I only got to the two BSB rounds there each year I'd be delighted. Can't see past the McCams and Rich Energy Yamahas myself.

Well predicted Schwantz34, both McCams Yamahas on the podium in race one. And "Too tall" Tommy Bridewell.
I am happy to see Taz and Aussie Jason O'Halloran make good results again.
Impressed by Rory Skinner again.
Also good to see Josh Brookes had a good result on the Ducati.

Haven't been able to watch the race yet. Was riding yesterday & probable going for a blat today.

Hoping something will turn up on the web somewhere.

Re: BSB 22 Champion ride

Post by Apical »

Two more wins for the McCams Yams. Jason O'Halloran leading the championship, Taz needs a lot of points to catch up; 160 with 6 rounds to go, that's more than 25 points per round. Big hill to climb, doesn't seem likely this season.

Team mate Jason O'Halloran might win the championship.
Brad Ray might get there as well, the rest seem too far behind now.

Silverstone, are we there yet?

Just remember the showdown format in BSB. If MacKenzie continues like that he should get into the top 8 and he'll be racking up podium credits which should give him a shot at the crown

Re: BSB 2022 Thruxton

Post by Apical »

BSB is off to Thruxton this weekend.

Friday was interesting. Taz Mackenzie was fast early. Tom Sykes was the quickest Ducati of the day. Heaps faster than Brookesy.

Jason O'Halloran was best overall despite a crash. Go Aussie!

Tommy Bridewell not too far off the pace at his local track.

Rory Skinner improved 1.2 seconds from fp1 to fp2, still 16th & over a second a lap off the fastest times.

Another race on Saturday afternoon an Australia rider wins again, just like the Empire games.

Two more superbike races again on Sunday (today). Superbike warm-up in about two hours.

You were right about those Yamahas and Bradley Ray Schwantz34.

Bradley has had some wins this year. second in the standings now.

Tarran Mackenzie wins again and is in the top 8 already.

https://www.facebook.com/britishsuperbi ... 332988183/

https://www.facebook.com/britishsuperbi ... 567953185/

Tommy Bridewell seemed to be the best Ducati on Sunday, tenth in race 2 & seventh in race 3 where Tom Sykes was 10th. Best Ducati in the championship too.

Josh Brookes? One point over the Thruxton weekend, not what I expect from a champion like Brookesy.

Don't know what it is about the R1 and British circuits, just seems to work. I really thought Haslam and Sykes would be in the hunt but the rest of the manufacturers have almost nothing to put to them

G'day Fingernails. There may be a way to watch BSB but I don't know how. If you do figure it out please let us know.
Some races can be found on YouTube apparently.

Practice, Q and a sprint race done at Cadwell Park. two races today, Monday. it's a bank holiday in the UK.

Just realised that neither PBM bikes can make the showdown this year for the first time ever. Pretty poor show from both riders I'd say although commentary on Eurosport at the start of this year suggested that Bird's interest in BSB was waning because of his son's developing car racing career

Snetterton BSB 2022

Some races have been run already this weekend.

Our favourite bespectacled lad wins again.

The silly old showdown means that the "Title fighters" are decided this weekend. Still 4, 5 or 6 riders could make the cut. I don't understand the BSB scoring system etc. well enough to be certain.

One of the most chaotic rounds in the series history at Oulton Park last weekend. If you manage to find highlights hold on tight!!
