MotoGP WC prediction 2021

Post by MiniNinjaMk5 »

Hey folks

This thread was quite good fun last year, with a few very prescient predictions made.

What are everyone's for this year?

Really I don't know if we need a 'WMM' and 'WOMM' (with or without Marquez!)

But my prediction will be:
1 - Mir
2 - Morbidelli
3 - Pol Espargaro
4 - Miller
5 - Oliviera

I'm too late to post pre-season. So, here is my prediction after the first two races.

1. Quartararo
2. Vinales
3. Zarco
4. M Marquez
5. Miller

Unfair to Mir, Morbidelli, Bagnaia, etc. But, I have to pick 5.

Oh, and sadly:

12. Rossi

After 2 races and a complete guess as to what will happen to M Marquez, its such an unknown and the competition is so even

1. M Marquez
2. Miller
3. Mir
4. Zarco
5. Vinales
6. Quartararo
7. Morbidelli
8. Rins
9. Baganana
10. P Espargaro
11. Jorge Martin (rookie of the year)
12. Someone on a KTM
13. A Esparagro
14. Rossi
15. Another KTM
16. Bastianini (second rookie)
My signature isn't particularly interesting

Haha you are doing better than me!

Good spot there on Zarco's performance.

In retrospect I've been (pleasantly) surprised by how Quartararo has come on this year. Other than the unforced error of zipgate and the lost 25pts with the arm pump problem he has ridden spectacularly. This might not have been enough to beat Marc at his peak, but this year no-one else has come close to his race winning potential (other than perhaps Oliviera). Next few races in Austria will be interesting, but on current form I'd expect him to do a good job of damage limitation and get solid top 5 or even podium results. The issue will be for Bagnaia and Oliviera if they can keep the consistency going on tracks their bikes should go well at.

Mine were
1 - Mir don't think the bike is where it was last year (missing the ride height device) and a few key other riders have become more consistent. Maybe 3rd or 4th this year?
2 - Morbidelli not sure what has happened to him this year (injuries and run of bad luck?)
3 - Pol Espargaro Real disappointment for me this year, was sure if anyone else could tackle the Honda it was him. HRC have some work to do!
4 - Miller Nice to see the wins but still some consistency issues, this one might be right
5 - Oliviera Actually only person (other than perhaps Bagnaia) that I could see giving Quarataro a run for his money this year. Definitely top 3 on current form.

M Marquez has said that Mir's strategy this year of finishing every race is not the strategy to win this year, ie he needs to take more risks to get better results and accept some DNF's
