My perodic tech homologation rant

The action on the track is absolutely amazing, and I'm grateful for that.

But to me it makes no sense that you can find tech in a $15K Ducati adventure bike (active suspension, active VVT) or a $9K glorified Honda scooter (dual clutch transmission). I think the rule should be that if a bike maker can implement tech in a high volume bike with a relatively low price (let's call it $20K) it should be automatically allowed for use in MotoGP.

I think there could be ways to manage the personnel side of it too. I'm sure Ohlins would love to use MotoGP to help develop its active suspension tech, so they could provide spec electronics and personnel to help teams utilize it. And that could include stuff like active ride height control for launches or whatever. Kind of makes no sense for everyone to develop it separately IMO.

IDK maybe I'm off base but this has bothered me for years. Then again the bikes have never been more close or competitive so it might not even matter. But I'd love to see more tech development in the prototype racing series.
