I'll pop for Spies for the title let alone the race.

If Stoner manages to keep it upright on the day (Wins it or bins it) then I'd have him first but I'm thinking this is the year that Spies comes to the fore.

Rossi is a complete unknown element on the Ducati, he may be fitter than indicated, the bike may be better than he's letting on. For sure, come the race I'd bet my house he wants a win here more than anything else.

Lorenzo to come back strong towards the end of the race but I don't think he'll win it.
Pedrosa to finish 3/4th with Simoncelli and most likely Rossi ahead of him.

As I haven't even looked at the timings yet, I'll gut feel.

Spies, Rossi, Simoncelli/Lorenso, Pedrosa.

You've been taking too much notice of my Stoner/front-ender prediction for the race. :D

Mine was fine, however I did notice a box on the lower right hand side which gives you an option of which platform to choose, a or b, perhaps change that???
Still no video. I'm getting slightly upset now, I was rather looking forward to watching this. I've tried all the settings and options, and my computer is up to date. I can watch the previous practice session, just not the ones that are live. The sound works fine, and live timing is also working. Am I really the only person with this problem?

If it is indeed broken, I don't know how they'd do anything but put Hopkins in. Too bad it happened in FP3 leaving Hopper with just QP. Of course, it is the Suzuki so, even with all the sessions, he'd likely not be very far up the order.

IMO, this is what comes of Suzuki's silly decision to reduce to one bike. Better not to be on the grid at all. It impairs their abilities so much. Presumably, as CLX asks, Hopkins has now got to jump on Bautista's spare and get out and do the best he can. It does him no favours and it does Suzuki no favours. In fact, I'm not sure what positives there are. It'll be nice to see Hopper running around again, I suppose, but the circumstances are rotten. Perhaps he can keep Elias company.

Get better soon, Alvaro.

I doubt Suzuki will even race. I bet Hopper will be on the bike at Jerez.

OK, Lorenzo now obviously has a set-up he likes and is back in business, grinding out long runs (well, a long run) of good times - pretty late to get there by his standards of last year, but there all the same. Pedrosa still searching for consistency, I feel, though speed certainly there. Rossi starting to put a bit of a string of higher 1:56s together but one feels that the bike is telling him it's about to get temperamental if pushed any harder. Dovi now looking able to be a damn nuisance to anybody trying to get some clear track and chase the leaders effectively, but no real consistency; same for Simoncelli.

Stoner still the one who looks most ready to rumble; in fact, I suspect he'd not have minded if the race were last night..any mechanical issues aside. Personally I never feel entirely comfortable when a rider (especially my 'chosen man') has spent a long time sitting on top of the heap, because there's only one direction from there...

Even if Hopper was there, would there be a spare bike?
Didnt AB already write-off one bike earlier in the week?

Wishing him a speedy recovery.

All: I am working up the lap time analysis as I did for FP1. However, I have added some more detail to it so it has become an assload of work. Should be up soon.

Well, I assumed Hopper was there, and we all know what assumption is..! But I thought I was reasonably safe on that one. As far as a spare is concerned, the mechanics would just rebuild any crashed machine, if possible, to provide a data alternative, or a quick change, wet weather setup bike, for flag-to-flag races. I would have thought Suzuki would have an absolute bare minimum of two bikes. After all, it's just one rider they need to cater for. They should be able to cosset Bautista somewhat. It's bad enough being down to one rider because half the data is being gathered. If Suzuki pare Bautista down to a bare minimum, that each from a pair of riders might have to put up with, during a cost cutting exercise, then I fail to see how they improve their profile. Better to pull out of MotoGP altogether and concentrate elsewhere. Or, cut elsewhere and make the proper effort in MotoGP.

Paul Denning said the bike written off on Monday "will not see the light of day again" :!:

I just looked at the replay of the crash AB had (FP3) and the bike was cartwheeling at a high speed and I dare say
very badly damaged.

John Hopkins is in the USA atm from what I have seen on twitter.

Looks like the grid is already 1 bike down and the season hasnt even started.

Anyone know if Stoner did any full race simulations in testing? I just did some quick math on the lap times in FP3 but considering Stoners 11 laps "at pace" and Lorenzo's final 11laps of his fourteen lap run has Jorge winning that hypothetical race by about .75 seconds! Granted that doesn't mean much in the real world but we haven't really seen Stoner string more than 3 or 4 of these 55 laps together before pitting which begs the question, can he do these laps and keep a tire under him at the end of the race?

In going through the lap data extensively, I saw the same thing you did. I'm actually thinking Lorenzo might surprise us on Sunday.

Pedrosa has a rather bizarre way of building up a race weekend; I think their approach is rather unique and many times you can see them way down the pace in FP1 or FP2, only to pull out something out of nowhere in qualifying or right in the race and blow everyone away. Rossi does similar things, but there will be some traces of what's coming; an improvement in warm up, a late improvement in qualifying, prior pace while testing at the same track, etc etc...Pedrosa seems quite different. I think he might pull off this one, followed by Stoner/Lorenzo/Spies in any order
