Re: 2020 world championship prediction

Quatararo definitely had a very good bad day at the office.

I do suspect that Dovi's title chances are slipping now. To lose ground at a ducati track is not good.

It's a Yam 1-2 in FP in each. I wonder if we'll have a double-header winner? someone could have a very good Sunday. Ducati and Yamaha would be most likely

Re: Moto GP schedual and the corona virus...

In November, you can forget any part of northern Europe. (happy memories of qualifying at Donington in September and losing the back on frost in a shadow. I did wonder why I'd been so much quicker into the Melbourne Loop than the wily old campaigner I was racing. Got my exhaust down but somehow save...

Big day for Yamaha

1-2 in MotoGP and WSBK free practice on the same day.

One for the Hamamatsu loo wall. Is it unprecedented?

Re: Moto GP schedual and the corona virus...

Australia is having a flare-up at the moment, NZ is not letting anyone in, I'm not sure I'd want to go to southern Africa at the moment. Don't know what the Argentine situation is.

A huge expense though, and probably a massive logisitical exercise at a moment when budgets are drying up

Re: Moto GP schedual another round?

This piece suggests another round in Europe somewhere. It would have to be a warm part of Europe. Does anyone want to guess where? I guess a race in Finland in November would at least avoid any worries with the heat over-stressing the bike engines or riders I'm sure you're right about Portugal. Mug...

Marquez replaced by Bradl

I actually think it shows the current system works. He pushed recovery hard to get out, gave it a go, had the confidence to say "it doesn't work" and stepped back.

Indeed, I'll believe it when I see it, but if they can get it to run, I'll go.

The Welsh one got stuffed by devolution politics as I understand it.

I've been on that road (before they resurfaced it). It was beautiful, but misty and covered in debris, in mid-August. But yes, it is beautiful.

Re: 2020 road racing line up

When I've been club racing, the spectators can get into the tens, maybe hundreds. If you take out the peeps who are there as pitcrew/people who drink all your beer and tell you that you are slow, then I'm not sure many people actually pay good money on the door. BEMSEE are the bigger end of things, ...

Re: WSBK in 2020

a MotoGP-like superbike could be a real sweet-spot for Redding, who was good, but too big, on a MotoGP bike.

I wonder how Kawasaki will play out, if Rea shows weakness, will Alex Lowes try to get past him?

Has Chaz done enough to keep himself on a ride for next year?

Re: MotoGP R3 26-7-20 Gran Premio Red Bull de Andalucía

you could look at it another way: back in the days of 2-strokes, there was very little optimisation that was fully understood, so an Erv Kannemoto could port better (on his day) than the factory guy. Also, given some of the blind alleys the manufacturers went up, simply by having last year's bike yo...

Interesting article on Crash comparing results from the 2 MotoGPs https://www.crash.net/motogp/feature/940669/1/who-improved-going-backtoback-jerez (although I can't figure out what order they are in). Dovi dropped 6 places and 0.121s Quatararo and Vinales dropped no places (but didn't improve place...

Re: Cov 19 and replacement riders

I thought the whole place for the season was that everyone forms a bubble and doesn't leave until the end of it (or has to re-certify however that is done). The logic being the complete unpredictability of new rulings like this. If there are reserve riders, how many are there? who is paying for them...

whilst it's not a complete collapse for Dovi, it's not looking that clever for him is it?

If Pecco's bike hadn't blown up, it would looked even less clever.

3 Yamahas at the front is ominous, unless they blow all their engines up.

Cov 19 and replacement riders

One thing that struck me, any replacement rider will have to meet whatever protocols are needed. AIUI, that's a 14-day self-isolation and a negative test? I wonder if anyone had thought of that, and how practicable it is? (are there riders of sufficient calibre sitting about who can commit to two we...

Re: 2020 world championship prediction

everyone said it was a blisteringly hot race with greasy track conditions. With lots of races pushed into the warmest part of the year, it will be interesting to see how much that affects Marc. dropping 2/16 isn't the end of the world, but if the heat takes away his edge, then it's a whole new ballg...

I'm looking forward to see if my theory about thinkers v instinctive racers comes up. (or falls flat on it's face) Dovi is the obvious "thinker", so expect him to push up if I'm right Marquez as the peak instinctive rider, but out of the equation now. Who will be able to find that extra little bit f...

For this year you can imagine one team being struck out during the weekend, but what happens if a few of the top guys can't race? They got busted for using non-road bikes https://motomatters.com/news/2020/07/15/fabio_quartararo_and_sergio_garcia.html The issue was that they used non-approved bikes that were not road bikes (and should have sought permission first).
