Re: Moto GP schedual and the corona virus...

I have a friend from Finland I was talking with yesterday who says you guys aren't doing too badly overall are you? She was saying there was a lot of news about people that went to see the football in Russia (who aren't doing too well) and then came back with the virus, which has led to a pocket of ...

Re: MotoGP WC prediction 2021

Haha you are doing better than me! Good spot there on Zarco's performance. In retrospect I've been (pleasantly) surprised by how Quartararo has come on this year. Other than the unforced error of zipgate and the lost 25pts with the arm pump problem he has ridden spectacularly. This might not have be...

Re: Silly Season

Just out of interest who would you guys put on the Aprilia or VR46 Ducati rather than MV? Let's say team mate at Aprilia is Aleix Espargaro and Marini on VR46. Only Moto2 riders I could think - Raul Fernandez? I don't know if either team would have the money or inclination to bully out KTM. Dovi? Re...

Re: Silly Season

Yes but if you had the opportunity to take a rider of Maverick's calibre wouldn't you take it? (and they must be thinking, if his head can get sorted out, then he will be a race winner for them). Reading some really conflicting stuff from journos about where he is going, to the point where I think t...

Re: Round 9 Dutch TT (Assen)

I would say with everything going on with MV at the moment, that race would have been win or straw bales (to quote John Kocisnki) for him, if he had been in a position to actually race with FQ! Quick mention of other classes; it was nice to see a Moto3 race that wasn't just an axe murdering session....

I think he's not happy at the moment, so... you gotta change. We've all been in jobs like that where you feel under-appreciated, and really the best thing you can do is move on.

Re: BSB 2021

Well, O'Halloran couldn't have done any better! Super impressive. I was worried for one moment when McKenzie was behind him, remembering their previous.. Brookes a bit slow to start although I think he has been in the past too. Skinner very impressive, he was mixing with some really experienced, fas...

Re: Silly Season

@Fingernails - I'm not sure what the proposed setup is for Rossi and his team. With the money behind them plus the name, I would be very surprised if he does not get factory bikes (or perhaps a small step removed, like Pramac currently). @CLX - Totally agree, Fernandez is going to be on a lot of sho...

Re: Silly Season

Ah come on man.. that performance yesterday definitely shows he needs to be in MotoGP! :) To have an awful start like that, get pushed back down to 7th (I think) then to cut through the rest of the field and still be pulling away at the end? I can't remember the last time I saw anyone do that in Mot...

Re: Silly Season

I'm sure Aprilia are looking at MV and thinking - sports psychologist, if we sort this out, we have a race winner on our hands. Vinales will be a quicker rider than Dovi, especially now that the latter has had a year out. They have their test rider in Espargaro. In all honesty, who else would you pu...

Re: Round 9 Dutch TT (Assen)

Beautiful ride by FQ. Made a strong move at the start and the most of the gap he pulled on the only other guy who I think had a chance to fight him. By the time Maverick got through it was too late. Bagnaia's ride was heroic, had no right to stay in 2nd as long as he did and made that Ducati as wide...

Re: Silly Season

That's interesting.. I do wonder where Crash.net get their info from sometimes as I haven't read that about the Gresini/Suzuki link anywhere else, and I follow half a dozen bike journos, certainly nothing to counter that there will be 8 Ducatis on the grid next year (Factory, Pramac, VR46, Gresini) ...

Re: Round 9 Dutch TT (Assen)

I think it definitely used to be regarded as a special win. With riders saying if you win one race that's the place to do it. I don't know why! :)

Re: Round 9 Dutch TT (Assen)

Yes I would be surprised if Vinales even podiums, things look really dark there at the moment. Conversely Quartararo is looking very good, he loves the track and the Yamaha goes well here. I think between him and Oliviera for the win, Miguel has got such a good run of form at the moment, the KTM is ...

Re: Petronas

I agree, McPhee has shown he can race at the front of a grand prix and win. He's had a few unforced errors this year but you would like to think that most teams could see the potential there. I think it's probably a bit of a toxic atmosphere now in his pit too which won't be helping, he could do wit...

Re: So what happens with Honda if Marc never recovers?

I don't either.. there is an interesting article on the front page from David about the win being both the best and worst thing to happen to HRC, which kind of makes sense. You have to look at where the other Hondas were during the race. Pol has definitely been a disappointment, I expected him to ge...

Re: Silly Season

You're right, I remember even Suzuki still honouring Iannone's contract even when he quite obviously couldn't be bothered. I guess it might be the situation like Zarco at KTM - if it's quite obvious for both parties that they are not happy they can choose to part ways (but I think as in that case bo...

Re: Round 8 - German GP (Sachsenring)

Think Aleix is probably a tremendous test/development rider at this point and would be a good benchmark for anyone else in the team. As it stands every rider that has come into the team has gone (and finished the GP career of at least a couple) so you can't say he is doing too badly! It will be inte...

Re: Petronas

Yes the world feed guys were saying the same thing. Apparently two guys in the running for the GP bike are Toprak from WSBK and Jake Dixon. Dorna really want a Brit in MotoGP and it sounds like the personnel move in Petronas is an attempt to kick-start his season, because without a few good results ...

Re: Round 8 - German GP (Sachsenring)

Wow. I am not ashamed to say this is the 3rd time watching a race that has put a lump into my throat. The first was Sete Gibernau taking the win in South Africa in 2003, riding Daijiro Kato's bike after his death a few weeks before. The second was a bit pathetic - again in South Africa, the opening ...

Apparently Rossi is going to be part of the media interviews coming up in the Netherlands on Thursday, with a few journos expecting it to be an announcement of his new team.

Odds of it being Ducati are at 99%..

Re: Round 8 - German GP (Sachsenring)

Yep definitely - Pol was looking really positive throughout FP in Catalunya, then had a shocker of a race.
So will be interesting to see if they keep the momentum.

Such a tight field time-wise, think Rossi was in 20th and only a second off of Marc's time!

Re: Silly Season

I think (not 100%) that there were a spare two grid spaces for the past few years? I can't think of any other way - like you say if the Avintia bike spaces are going to Rossi's team, Gresini are taking Ducati's, then there has to be two more bikes on the grid for the Aprilias? Yes I would like to se...
