Re: Casey Stoner

I'm amazed that this discussion has remained relatively free of needless name-calling. The points, both pro and contra, have been well-made and backed up by opinion and example. I may or may not agree with any or all of them, but they're very carefully phrased, for the most part. However, as Rats p...

It also makes sense because we live down a stretch of "farm track" about 500m long from the main road... cheers, just didn't really consider a supermoto.

Re: Le Mans Race weekend - the off-track stuff

For me the problem isn't the severity of Stoner's action, it's the fact he did it and I find it a little bit concerning that he allowed the situation to make him resort to physically showing his anger towards another racer. If I am honest, I don't think he deserved any more punishment than the few g...

Hi, I am from the UK looking to do my CBT in the next couple of weeks... I'm 26 so I can go for a full license, should I get it out of the way or gain some road experience on a smaller bike or get something at a reasonable size? I'll mostly be using it to commute (about 30 miles in total, but it wil...

Re: Casey Stoner

I don't know where to begin with this. I respect the fact that everyone has differing opinions about Stoner. However, I just can't help but take exception to the points I have highlighted. Firstly, the entire 'tummy ache' thing... Quite frankly, I don't want to get into a fanboyesque debate, but I ...

Phil, I wouldn't say I hate any rider... I feel like I am missing a piece of the jigsaw when it comes to Casey though and that's why I am asking for opinions. I have and never will deny his pace and I respect that, but the other aspects of him as a rider, I just don't seem to be able to see what som...

Casey Stoner

I want to be clear with this topic in that it's not a 'Bash Casey Stoner' topic and nor is it a 'slag off any other rider trying to defend Stoner' topic. Being new to this forum (and Motorcycling forums as a whole), I am genuinely surprised by how many people like/support Casey Stoner, what I would ...

Re: 2011 R4 Le Mans Race Topic **Spoilers***

And when it was reported that a rider did make efforts to discuss this very situation with him, the riders points and comments were apparently dismissed totally as ‘that is your opinion’. So for me, he made the bed no matter how uncomfortable and now must lay in it. Yep, that is a fair comment, but...

Re: MoTM Le Mans.

As an aside, why is it a lot of people are giving Rossi so much credibility for his podium on the Ducati? This is a bike that had 3 wins and seven podiums last year, not a Suzuki. He also has the added advantage that Ducati are using all their resources solely on the Motogp bike, not split between ...

Re: 2011 R4 Le Mans Race Topic **Spoilers***

It's suggested on MCnews.com.au that Rossi passed Dovi under a yellow flag. It shows a pic of him making the pass and the yellow flag shows quite clearly. Anyone got a copy of the race they can have a look at? When was that? I might give it a look later, but it's near bedtime here already. Gotta wa...

Re: 2011 R4 Le Mans Race Topic **Spoilers***

The picture shows Rossi moving back past Andrea Dovizioso as they arrive at the turn where yellow flags were being waved in the aftermath of Dani Pedrosa's accident. It would have been a harsh call had Rossi been punished, since the passing with Dovizioso began at the previous corner and the pair a...

Re: MoTM Le Mans.

I very rarely give it to the race winning Alien as I said in the last round when I did give it to Dani for overcoming injury and adversity. MoTM is about someone who over achieves or produces a race greater than the sum of their result. I gave it to Dani who didn't even finish obviously. Fair enoug...

Re: Le Mans Race weekend - the off-track stuff

Lucky or not, I actually think Rossi's ride from 9th could be a contender for MOTM, if we're going to stick with just the 800s. All joking aside, as a Rossi fan I was extremely pleased with his ride... he genuinely kept pace with a Honda and a Yamaha under dry, race conditions. I would have been ha...

Re: 2011 R4 Le Mans Race Topic **Spoilers***

I agree completely but for that to happen Marco needs to accept that he makes mistakes and bad judgment. Lorenzo did that and that changed his career. can Simoncelli do the same? I guess the jury is still out. I don't see any reason why he can't 'lose' this side of his racing. I really do hope that...

Well. He has been around for quite a while and hasn´t changed much with regards to how he race and the lack of race craft, his 136 GP start today. In regards to Stoners fine, perhaps it's not only because he physically demonstrated anger towards a fellow competitor but because he has been overly animated and aggressive towards other riders throughout the weekend. Barbera and Aoyama also felt the little man's wrath. On a side note, have you see...

- Rossi hogs a lucky podium while the winner cruised to a 14 second win. - Also, did not see him clap Stoner when he was awarded the winners trophy (hands on hips) - During anthem, Rossi again clowns and hogs attention of the crowd. Discuss. Most of the crowd are there to see Rossi to be fair.

All the cards but one: the intelligence to make the right decisions. Such as waiting one or two corners and making a safe pass. Simoncelli should have watched the 125cc race. There was a sixteen-year-old there who put on a textbook case of how to be a champion. I agree completely. His urgency to pa...

Re: 2011 R4 Le Mans Race Topic **Spoilers***

I guess you didn't watch Qatar. Lorenzo was clearly outpaced at Qatar and over-rode the bike to get a second place finish and maximize his points which has ultimately resulted in him leading the championship. Yamaha do not have the best bike on the grid this year, they are down on power to the Hond...
