Re: Marquez 2021

Marc had an 8-hour op yesterday, it sounds like previous rumours of the bone graft procedure were true https://the-race.com/motogp/marquez-third-surgery-broken-arm/ Some other bits I have read about the interwebs (from other journos - Mat Oxley, David Emmett etc.) - the op is not 'high risk' and has...

If Marquez is fully fit in 2021 I would expect him to walk all over the competition
That is a BIG statement Mikesbytes :D

We will have to start a 2021 predictions thread.. maybe give it until after Christmas though :)

2021 Calendar

Some interesting rumours about potential changes the 2021 MotoGP calendar (most of this courtesy of Simon Patterson and Toby Moody on the Race podcast) - No Sepang test - US and Argentina rounds likely to be cancelled - Qatar might be a 'month long' visit. Two tests there and then two race weekends....

Re: Marquez will win every race he finishes in 2020

Bloody hell this was a prescient prediction ! Be interesting to see how (if?) he bounces back in 2021. A few commentators think he might not be as dominant as he once was due to missing almost a year, and some of the other and younger guys increasing in both belief and speed. Will sure be interestin...

Re: Will Marquez become the greatest racer of all Time?

Marquez rides the way he does though simply because he is of this era. You wouldn't be able to ride like that in the 50s (or even the 80s for that matter) and so no-one did, although you could say even the very act of racing in those days was lunacy with that kind of fatality rate. I guess there was...

Re: Will Marquez become the greatest racer of all Time?

I always say this but I f*cking hate this 'greatest of all time stuff' :D As brilliant as Stoner, Rossi, Marquez or whoever are, could you convince that they are emphatically better than Hailwood or Saarinen? Other than the rough baseline of nutters riding a two-wheeled combustion engine around a ma...

Re: The Zarco pic on the main page

I didn't see the session but think it was FP4(?) and just before QP - the session had to be delayed because they were checking/cleaning the track surface Like you say he should have known better, lots of "club racers would know not to do that" type comments, as you can imagine. Think he is just a bi...

Re: What is happening Aprilia

I think it says a lot that Brendon Roberts has turned down the Aprilia ride. Really I think Aleix is getting all he can from that bike, riding the wheels off the thing, to barely get in the points. Aleix has always been good at qualifying (remember him gunning for pole on the Forward Racing Yamaha?)...

Re: R15 - Grande Prémio MEO de Portugal Algarve International Circuit PORTUGAL

Wow.. what a ride by Oliveira. Think Herve Poncheral said it best, he was just in the zone and didn't look back. Happy for Miller, has shown he really deserves that factory Ducati ride with the recent run of form. Funny at the end there, I wonder what he was saying to Zarco (maybe "look after my bik...

Re: Racing circuit pantheon

Really hoping Portimao gets added to the GP calendar regularly!

Knowing how the cameras flatten somewhere like Brno, I bet those up and downhills have really got some gradient, would be great to see in person.

Looks like a lovely part of the world too.

Re: Silly Season

Apparently part of the reason the Sky VR46 Moto3 team has gone was the cost of the MotoGP seat for Marini but also to have to buy Rabat out of his contract (on top of that I believe Rabat was contributing quite heavily to be in the team). I wonder if he will look at the success of Lowes after going ...

Re: Silly Season

Yes for sure I sometimes wonder in GPs the team owners have blinkers on when it comes to riders in WSBK - it's so much harder to travel from that class to GPs, think other than in 2002 (when it made sense to move riders to 4-strokes AND the strength of the field I think was better in WSBK) you can p...

Marquez 2021

Thought this was pretty big 'news' and probably deserving of its own thread. Simon Patterson reporting in The Race (latest podcast) - Apparently initial surgery carried out on Marc after Jerez 1 has left Marc's arm (humerus?) with structural weakness. Effectively, like any load bearing structure, if...

Re: Silly Season

Haha yes I thought that was pretty funny. Should be a good move - I think will help Yamaha a lot with Cal's experience as a test rider, and also perhaps help Cal. The bike is a lot less vicious so hopefully give him some time for his body to heal. A lot of rumours around the 2nd Aprilia seat - appar...

Re: R14 Gran Premio Motul de la Comunitat Valenciana 15 Nov

You have to consider as well that Morbidelli had two 'unforced' DNFs. One break down (when he was on course for 2nd) and then that heart-stopper in Austria where he came together with Zarco. Don't think him running the 2019 bike again next year is necessarily a bad thing as the bike is obviously wor...

Re: R14 Gran Premio Motul de la Comunitat Valenciana 15 Nov

Yes me too - I'm guessing, the way Mir has been a sensible head on his shoulders for this year, he can come in with a podium (assuming a Rins or Quartararo win - I guess Rins is probably best placed for that). Looks like a dry albeit cold track this morning, a lot of Moto3 riders chucking it into th...

Re: Silly Season

Yes, although from what I have read the negotiations failed at the 11th hour. It would have made sense to have a very fast test rider like Dovi at Honda to step in for exactly that occasion. I assume unless anything changes it would probably be Bradl again, especially with Cal leaving Honda and beco...

Pretty amusing article on Motogpnews if you haven't read it.. http://motogpnews.com/2020/11/10/iannone-banned-for-four-years/ Apparently Iannonne's defence consisted of this drawing of a muscular cow threatening another cow http://motogpnews.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/cow1-300x176.jpg I guess fo...

Re: Silly Season

There are a lot of rumours going around about the state of Marc's arm - the obvious loss of muscle mass and him not being seen riding a motorbike (of any description) I don't think are indicative of anything more than the doctors/physio being extremely careful about his return. I don't think it's wo...

Quite fun reading back through the comments Think Jagbruno was first to mention about strong Suzuki performance this year, in July CLX had a great one in August! Think calling it pretty much exactly And a side-note, Mir is starting to hit his stride. I know it's naive and incredibly optimistic to pl...

Re: Silly Season

Interesting stuff. Really seems now that Aprilia standing by Iannone (who, from everything I have read, is not expected to be able to overturn the ban) has really cost them. Both Dovi and Cal. Last thing left remaining to them is if Lorenzo decides what the hell he is doing and decides to come back ...

Re: 2020 world championship prediction

Yeah I hope they are right. One thing I would add to that is that apparently Dorna has some muscle with the Spanish government, I'm not sure if the same would apply with the Portugese. At least no air freight is needed, it is literally driving across next door.. fingers crossed because like you say ...

Re: R13 Gran Premio de Europa Circuit Ricardo Tormo SPAIN

I think in many ways Qaurtararo's behaviour is normal for a young guy in that position. He wears his heart on his sleeve that's for sure (I actually quite like that about him). Mir is the one that is extraordinary, to have that kind of presence of mind and maturity at that age is something else. Tob...

Re: Silly Season

Latest article on the front page has Dovi taking a sabbatical for next year. He wanted to do pro Moto-X racing and apparently none of the teams were happy with that so he hasn't signed. Might well be the last few races we will see of Dovi's career. Think it will be very, very hard for him to come ba...
