Re: Moto GP schedual and the corona virus...

I'm not sure about the times between testing, only that Rossi had to have 2 'negatives' before coming back (which is what happened). Think the riders/teams are going to have to be so, so careful between now and the next two races (that's *if* Portugal goes ahead). Arguably it's the only thing that c...

Re: 2020 world championship prediction

A lot of rumours on social media that Portugal won't go ahead due to their lockdown. Think (for all 3 classes) you definitely want to be in the lead if you can at the end of Valencia 2, just in case.. So that has definitely narrowed down the list of possible winners, Mir with one hand on the trophy....

Re: R13 Gran Premio de Europa Circuit Ricardo Tormo SPAIN

Well that was an imperious ride by Mir. Didn't need to win that, but really stamped his authority with what I have to say was a beautiful ride. One hand on the title now, going to need some serious misfortune for him to lose this year. Oh dear Yamaha - think 2007 the last time there wasn't a rider i...

Re: Moto GP schedual and the corona virus...

Another breaking news - one person from Vinales' side of the team has tested positive. Maverick himself tested negative this morning but assume he is going to have to be tested again (before the sessions tomorrow?)

Re: R13 Gran Premio de Europa Circuit Ricardo Tormo SPAIN

Weather all over the place today so hard to glean much from the results.

Last few minutes of FP2 are worth a watch as everyone going for a time (track was mostly dry and possibility of rain during FP3 tomorrow) - I won't write the result here for now if not everyone has seen.

Re: 2020 world championship prediction

Massive blow to Vinales chances this year - Yamaha have had to open a 6th engine so he will be starting from the pitlane on Sunday. Petronas must be bricking it too as Morbidelli especially has massive mileage on his engines (1 engine on 1300 miles, they are certified for 500) Nobody gives a crap ab...

Re: Moto GP schedual and the corona virus...

Like something else going on right now, I called something too early and later 'tests' came back to bite me on the ass :D Rossi to race tomorrow after both subsequent Covid tests came back negative. A shame for Gerloff as he rode superbly today in tricky conditions. For much of FP2 he was about 1 se...

Re: R13 Gran Premio de Europa Circuit Ricardo Tormo SPAIN

Thanks for starting the thread Mikesbytes

Tricky conditions in Moto3 despite the later start, cold and wet track. A lot of the guys throwing it down the road.

Good luck Gerloff having your first go on a GP bike around a wet Valencia!

Re: 2020 world championship prediction

I am glad at least they haven't penalised the riders - it would have been a rubbish way to decide the championship. But, them's the rules and if Yamaha broke it then ?? From what I have read track marginally favours the Suzuki over the Yamaha? Just have a bit more squirt coming out of the corners an...

Re: Silly Season

There is an element of trying to keep your future prospects sweet too though.. Yamaha must be thinking of both Gerloff and Toprak in that category, even if they don't ever race in GPs again it's a nice gift to those riders to show that they think highly of them. Will be interesting now if Rossi come...

Re: Moto GP schedual and the corona virus...

Apologies I jumped the gun on Rossi. He has failed the first covid test - he has two more and if he fails either of these two then he is definitely out for the weekend. Hence Gerloff being put on standby. Breaking news though - Lecuona is definitely out this weekend. Apparently his brother has teste...

Re: Moto GP schedual and the corona virus...

I'm going to leave this discussion now guys as I know it's contentious. I'll just leave it with look after yourselves and the people near to you over the next few months and hope you keep safe. Coming back to the bikes Rossi has tested positive again so is out this weekend, Garrett Gerloff (sp?) is ...

Re: Silly Season

GPone are reporting that Lorenzo has been 'fired' by Yamaha (!)

So that Aprilia rumour might be a thing if he wants to stay in GPs - don't know where else he could go?

Mooting possibility of Dovi coming back to Yamaha as a test rider.

Re: Moto GP schedual and the corona virus...

I suppose in most cases you end up with a scientific consensus on a topic - when most peer-reviewed investigation has resulted in what is most likely a correct explanation and course of action - and then that drives the public (and governmental) discourse on the best way to proceed. Although broadca...

Re: Moto GP schedual and the corona virus...

I think getting a control of the virus early on was key to implementing testing and tracing strategies. So you can't completely stop the virus, as you have said, but you can put measures in place for monitoring influx of the virus into the country and then tracking those people that have got it and ...

Re: Moto GP schedual and the corona virus...

Thanks guys. I think it's happening to more and more now unfortunately. Yep it definitely sounds like you guys in the Antipodeans have got a better grasp of controlling things. It's out of control in a lot of Europe now, especially like you say Belgium and the UK, and the most the lockdowns can do i...

Haha... hmm yeah I would be so surprised if that happened. Honestly, I would put Casey Stoner coming out of retirement to test at Aprilia as only slightly less likely than Lorenzo going to that team.

Hah I thought the Lorenzo rumour was the Motogpnews wesbite joking about (going on 'Lorenzo to Aprilia!' Then you click on the link and it's Lorenzo Salvadori ) :D

Have you read any more rumours about it being a thing then?

Re: BSB 2020

Yep agree with that. Great riding from Brookes who I think deserved the championship, got the results when he needed them most. Glenn Irwin made a step up and the new Honda is doing better in BSB than in WSBK. Next year should be interesting. Fingers crossed for a normal calendar next year and being...

Haha yep that might have not been a bad idea.. Latest report is that Valencia is closing it's borders to anyone except people working that have to cross - I assume the Motogp paddock would be part of that list of exemptions. I know what you mean Fingernails this does seem more prevalent this time ar...

Re: Silly Season

Smith is, alas, never going to set the world on fire. Ironically, his measured approach might make him more use to a championship-chasing team. For Aprillia, gambling on a new rider who might do something spectacular is going to be a better return on the money spent. I wonder if there is much testi...

Re: Silly Season

Not sure I understand that move. Only a few races left (assuming they take place) around Valencia which is one of the nastiest, trickiest tracks on the calendar. It will be cold, possibly wet. I think the only thing it might tell Salvadori is that he probably doesn't want to ride an Aprilia if he ev...

Re: MotoGP R12 Gran Premio Liqui Moly de Teruel 25 Oct

I think Vinales is the best case I have ever seen for someone needing a sports psychologist. Or even some kind of coach or mentor (Checa, Criville, someone like that?) that can help him out. There is no reason you should be able to absolutely wipe the floor with the rest of the field one weekend, an...

Re: 2020 world championship prediction

I'm going to go out on a limb, unless Dovi turns it around to today, then I think he's out of the championship. We are not seeing Ducati doing that well when the track temperature is low and there's only 3 races after this (assuming no cancellations), which are in the Northern Hemisphere November Y...

Re: Moto GP schedual and the corona virus...

Simon Patterson was repeating a rumour over the weekend that they were going to move Valencia 1 to next weekend, and then that was going to be the last race of the season. But, several other people have dismissed that (not least Michelin who have said it would be impossible to get the tyres ready in...
