Re: Round 7 - Barcelona

I decided to risk it and watch the races on YouTube. The risk is that often the YouTube videos say who won the race in the title. I managed to avoid that. MotoGP Another race that it looked like Quartararo might win, but things definitely went weird at the end. I don't remember ever seeing leathers ...

Re: Round 7 - Barcelona

I've missed the race as I was busy and it started early. I'll rejoin the conversation here after Tuesday night when I can watch the highlights on TV.

Re: Round 7 - Barcelona

That was a boring qualifying. All this tow seeking is ruining it. I'd rather see riders alone get one fast lap only and nothing else. Yes, it's getting rather annoying seeing the same people looking for tows all the time. I'm not sure the qualifying was boring, but I still don't want to see the tow...

Round 7 - Barcelona

FP1 has been and gone. I'm guessing that things will change before qualifying and Aleix Espargaro will not be on pole.

Fabio and the Suzukis were on the podium last year. Not impossible we'll see a repeat of that.

Re: So what happens with Honda if Marc never recovers?

Reputations can certainly change, but Honda have a pedigree for success (and they throw the most money of any factory which is maybe the most important thing!) Or they'll just pay enough money to get the rules changed to their favour ;) I couldn't possibly imagine what you are talking about *cough*...

Re: Silly Season

I think Acosta is too young to jump straight into MotoGP isn't he? I thought 18 was the minimum age. As skillful and promising he has been so far, I don't think I would agree with him stepping up into the big class for at least another couple of seasons. Yes, but he can go to Moto2 next year. Accor...

Re: So what happens with Honda if Marc never recovers?

I'm sure that riders value more than just a salary. But, among other aspects of their reputation, Honda have sometimes built their team around a rider and given that rider a string of championships. I'm sure that there will be talented riders who could believe that would happen for them.

Re: Silly Season

Once Miller was signed there was no where for Zarco to go, so he has made a good decision. Martin proved himself with a podium before getting injured Pramac seems to be a good place for Zarco. He can compete on seemingly a fairly even level with the factory team, and there is the potential for wins...

Re: So what happens with Honda if Marc never recovers?

I don't see Honda turning the season around without Marc. Everyone in MotoGP is fast. But none of the other HRC riders have even won 1 MotoGP race. This is an interesting statistic. I think it says a lot both about the Honda bike itself, and about their all eggs in one basket strategy. I think that...

Re: Silly Season

Zarco and Martin are staying at Pramac. It seems that Ducati has a strategy of rider stability this year. It also appears that Zarco has found a place on the grid that suits him.

Re: Round 6 - Gran Premio d'Italia Oakley (Mugello)

Like several others such as Binder, Acosta was falling back and then fighting his way back. He seemed to be able to do so at will until the last lap. I'm sure he's learned a lesson.

This weekend was his best qualifying result so far (I believe) too. He is still 16 and has a lot to learn.

Re: World SBK in 2021

I'm way behind on this. I've only seen the first weekend's worth of races. So far, it seems similar to last year. I've accidentally read that Redding has won another race, but don't know what the current standings are. Is it going to be a matter of waiting until Rea gets old and can't win anymore? A...

Re: So what happens with Honda if Marc never recovers?

I would guess that if Marc never recovers, that Honda will rebuild and regroup around other riders. I think they have the budget and the organisation to get back to the front reasonably quickly. But, they are certainly in a mess right now. Marc bouncing back seems the only short-term fix. If that do...

Predictions I have read include Gardner and Fernandez moving into the Tech3 team, Petrucci leaves for World SBK, Lecuona back down into Moto2 (all unconfirmed!)
All sounds quite plausible to me.

Re: Round 6 - Gran Premio d'Italia Oakley (Mugello)

I've finally seen the Moto3 race. Definitely poignant given the sad passing of Jason Dupasquier. As for the race itself, it was very confusing when mass slipstreaming meant than in one straight and corner the leader could be demoted to tenth or eleventh. Pedro Acosta continued his not shining form o...

Re: Round 6 - Gran Premio d'Italia Oakley (Mugello)

Looking at qualifying - the question is 'what is Marc up to'. Didn't seem to benefit him in the end. Though, perhaps that is what got him out of Q2. Quartararo ahead of a gaggle of Ducatis. He could run away with it, or perhaps he's going to be continuously repassed on the straight. I wouldn't like ...

Re: Round 6 - Gran Premio d'Italia Oakley (Mugello)

We'll see if everything changes for FP2, as it often does :D I watched the Crash.net preview, and they were pretty confident that Ducati are going to dominate, if only for their top speed advantage. I'll wait and see what happens. Having checked the live updates, it seems that MM93 is struggling. Do...

Round 6 - Gran Premio d'Italia Oakley (Mugello)

Last year Mugello was cancelled. In 2019 Ducati riders were first and third with MM93 second.

It would be the obvious prediction that Ducati will do well again at their home track. But, I think there's ample possibility that after two years away things may have changed. We'll see.

Moto3: Well, Acosta is human. Those 8th place points are still impressive given he fell off. I suspect that come the end of the year, he's not going to need those points though. Particularly with so many of his championship rivals having fallen off. Moto2: Surely Lowes is going to be out of the cham...

Re: SHARK Grand Prix de France - rd.5

Very interesting and exciting race. Again, I was involved in live chat where I was making predictions that were proved wrong. Personally I thought that someone would pit for slicks and win that way. Great win by Miller. He has Zarco behind him in win it or bin it mode, and did what he needed to do t...

Re: SHARK Grand Prix de France - rd.5

I came here to find all the people who had predicted that Salvadori and Marini would top Q1.

Even though he was pushed down a bit at the end, this qualifying is still a step forward for MM93. Though, it seems that this track does favour the Honda.

Re: SHARK Grand Prix de France - rd.5

Marc now goes top in FP3, but it's a wet practice. Still 6th overall when considering combined times I think. Three Hondas going straight through to FP1, so perhaps this track suits their bike. I note that Espargaro is even further up. That Morbidelli accident when practicing changing bikes was real...

Re: Spanish GP - Round 4

According to snippets of an interview with MM93 on MotoGP.com, his medical check after Jerez showed the bone is going ok. He also said he is very far from having equal strength in both arms and is looking to see how he is after the summer break. So no, he is not going to suddenly bounce back and su...
