Re: Round 8 - German GP (Sachsenring)

Pedro Acosta is fastest in Moto3 FP2. Perhaps the curse of my avatar is wearing off. (I'm guessing this is a track he's been to before as the real reason.) EDIT: I'm too lazy to look it up myself, but has there been a weekend where a KTM won in Moto3, a bike from the KTM team won in Moto2, and then ...

Re: Silly Season

From what I have read Aprilia will be running their own factory team. I haven't heard anything about Morbidelli leaving Petronas TBH? I know there is some dissatisfaction with him not having a factory bike but it sounds like it's just a case of Petronas putting forward the money for the bike. Lin J...

Re: Round 8 - German GP (Sachsenring)

It's looking very positive for Honda now. But, there have been FP1 sessions before this year where Marquez has shone or at least done well, and then he's faded throughout the weekend and into qualifying. FP2 often turns things on their heads. We shall see. I'm not saying it's likely that Honda will ...

Re: Silly Season

Since the article came out a week ago Gresini have confirmed they will be running Ducatis "with the all-Italian line-up of Fabio Di Giannantonio and Enea Bastianini," Wow! That's the biggest news in your post. (I should have been reading the news more.) I see the news is that Avintia will quit, wit...

Re: Silly Season

This post is really following up @Mikesbytes post in the round 8 thread where Mikesbytes predicts a Quartararo win, with Vinales off the podium. We've had discussion of whether Rins is doing his career good by falling off all the time. If Vinales continues to (on average) underperform compared to Qu...

Re: So what happens with Honda if Marc never recovers?

Now Marc no longer has that gap to the others - mostly because of his physical condition, perhaps also because he is not match fit. It's going to be interesting to see if Marc returns to not only full match fitness but also to reclaim his gap to the others. The latter might not happen not only beca...

Re: Round 8 - German GP (Sachsenring)

So does anyone think Marc can do it? David Emmett on the front page thinks there is a strong possibility he will win. If this had been any other track I would have said no, as Marc is still recovering and the Honda has been in the doldrums. But, he has been so utterly dominant at the track in the p...

Re: Round 8 - German GP (Sachsenring)

When I look back in the past to work out which tracks might be Honda tracks, I tend to discount Marquez.

Cal's podium in 2019 might indicate Honda, but Rossi's podium in 2018 must be one of his last ever podiums.

I'm really not sure what's going to happen.

Re: Round 8 - German GP (Sachsenring)

If the KTM is coming on song, Olivera could start chipping away at that quite large margin that Quartararo has over him. Not impossible. Didn't Olivera use to come on strong in the second half of championships in Moto2? Never enough to win, of course.

Re: Round 7 - Barcelona

I'm thinking Petrux. Or was it someone else?

Not doing particularly well, and then winning Misano for Ducati? And that doing him a *lot* of good in terms of his standing in the team?

Now, if Rins was to win at Motegi :)

Round 8 - German GP (Sachsenring)

So, what will happen? Will Fabio lose his leather bottoms this time and be racing around bare-assed? There was no race last year, and looking back to 2019 it was a MM93 win, with Vinales and Crutchlow on the podium. The only prediction I'm going to make is that none of the podium finishers from 2019...

Re: World SBK in 2021

I'm still behind on the races. I'll wait for the highlights on TV. I've seen R2 races only, oh, about two weeks late. It was great to see Redding win the first race of the weekend, but things then slipped from then. It looks like another season with Rea being consistently at the front if not winning...

It might help if Rins went out and won a race. That might compensate for his record so far.

Re: Round 7 - Barcelona

It seems that even Fabio thinks he should have been black flagged. https://www.crash.net/motogp/news/980338/1/fabio-quartararo-i-should-have-been-blackflagged Also, I've seen a report that Pit Beirer shook Dani Pedrosa's hand after the race victory and thanked him for the work he'd done. Dani then c...

Re: Round 7 - Barcelona

I would have thought that there would have been ample time to decide on a black flag during the race. There was enough time for the commentators to spend discussing it. Maybe there will be a new rule that should someone's leathers come undone, that the rider has to return to the pit and then not rej...

Re: Round 7 - Barcelona

I agree that's a fundamental safety issue, and he should have been black flagged. What's happened is that he continued racing, and has received an advantage. This therefore sends the message to anyone else in a similar situation that they may benefit by continuing racing even when it is dangerous. A...

Re: Round 7 - Barcelona

I decided to risk it and watch the races on YouTube. The risk is that often the YouTube videos say who won the race in the title. I managed to avoid that. MotoGP Another race that it looked like Quartararo might win, but things definitely went weird at the end. I don't remember ever seeing leathers ...

Re: Round 7 - Barcelona

That was a boring qualifying. All this tow seeking is ruining it. I'd rather see riders alone get one fast lap only and nothing else. Yes, it's getting rather annoying seeing the same people looking for tows all the time. I'm not sure the qualifying was boring, but I still don't want to see the tow...

Round 7 - Barcelona

FP1 has been and gone. I'm guessing that things will change before qualifying and Aleix Espargaro will not be on pole.

Fabio and the Suzukis were on the podium last year. Not impossible we'll see a repeat of that.

Re: So what happens with Honda if Marc never recovers?

Reputations can certainly change, but Honda have a pedigree for success (and they throw the most money of any factory which is maybe the most important thing!) Or they'll just pay enough money to get the rules changed to their favour ;) I couldn't possibly imagine what you are talking about *cough*...

Re: Silly Season

I think Acosta is too young to jump straight into MotoGP isn't he? I thought 18 was the minimum age. As skillful and promising he has been so far, I don't think I would agree with him stepping up into the big class for at least another couple of seasons. Yes, but he can go to Moto2 next year. Accor...

Re: So what happens with Honda if Marc never recovers?

I'm sure that riders value more than just a salary. But, among other aspects of their reputation, Honda have sometimes built their team around a rider and given that rider a string of championships. I'm sure that there will be talented riders who could believe that would happen for them.

Re: Silly Season

Once Miller was signed there was no where for Zarco to go, so he has made a good decision. Martin proved himself with a podium before getting injured Pramac seems to be a good place for Zarco. He can compete on seemingly a fairly even level with the factory team, and there is the potential for wins...
