Re: Marquez 2021

That is definitely very big news. I too thought that his career might be shorter than it otherwise might be due to injury. However, I never even thought that this might be the end of it. It does sound very complicated, and uncertain as to how things will pan out. Even if he can return and be quick a...

Re: R14 Gran Premio Motul de la Comunitat Valenciana 15 Nov

Thanks @MiniNinjaMk5 I'm way behind on everything. I was initially wondering about Morbidelli not getting the latest Yamaha, but then I read this: https://www.crash.net/motogp/news/948747/1/morbidelli-insists-latest-yamaha-m1-still-better-choice-2021-2019-bike FQ seemed all-conquering at the very st...

Re: R14 Gran Premio Motul de la Comunitat Valenciana 15 Nov

Morbidelli is now 17 points ahead of Quartararo in the championship. Some of that is consistency and not falling off. However, I think it's notable that they are likely to end up in this order in the championship. For a while it's seemed as if people think that Quartararo is an alien in waiting whil...

Re: R14 Gran Premio Motul de la Comunitat Valenciana 15 Nov

Well, that was an exciting race! Great ride and deserved win by Morbidelli. And, great to see Mir sealing the deal. While Mir has his win, this is the way that he won it by consistently scoring. So, I don't think there's anything disappointing to see a win with a 7th place. And, Quartararo is curren...

Re: Moto GP schedual and the corona virus...

What alternative viewpoints should be 'debated rationally'? And how is OFCOM stifling such debate? When have you seen on TV a serious discussion and debate from anyone with an opposing view to Government policy? OFCOM are policing the UK media and you have to follow the government message: https://...

Re: Moto GP schedual and the corona virus...

There are lots of alternative and counter view points and opinions out there to the musings in your post, and it's a real problem that OFCOM have stifled the media so those views don't get heard and debated rationally. I won't get into them here as I tried that on the previous page and it didn't go...

Re: Moto GP schedual and the corona virus...

I'm not sure I'd be celebrating the Australian or New Zealand approach as it sounds like it's been pretty draconian for the supposed free world, plus it's only possible if you're the end-of-the-line station. They now have to keep the doors shut indefinitely if they want to maintain their current st...

Re: Moto GP schedual and the corona virus...

I'm sorry to hear about your relative and your work colleague @MiniNinja. I am relieved that my elderly mother is in New Zealand where the risk is much lower. At the moment I seem to be hearing from so many people I know both professionally and personally that they've caught covid-19. I also know pe...

Re: BSB 2020

A normal calendar would be nice. But, I occasionally check what is being said in the comments sections on tabloid newspapers. My hopes for a resolution to covid-19 are not high. For next year, I'd like to see something upset the order. BMW come up with a cracker of a bike and everyone else is scrabb...

Re: Silly Season

Smith is, alas, never going to set the world on fire. Ironically, his measured approach might make him more use to a championship-chasing team. For Aprillia, gambling on a new rider who might do something spectacular is going to be a better return on the money spent. I wonder if there is much testi...

I just don’t think he’s anywhere near as good as he thinks he is or Yamaha hoped he would be.
Yamaha can't be blamed for giving up quickly. What we're seeing with Petronas shows what relatively unexperienced (but talented riders) can do on the bike.

This second wave in Europe is looking really nasty. I'm wondering if there's any risk of the last 3 events getting cancelled? The first wave was bad enough, and a couple of people I didn't know well but had met and talked to died of Covid-19. But, at the moment loads of people all around are testin...

Re: 2020 world championship prediction

In the Moto2 today Sam Lowes was utterly dominant - nobody could touch him. I haven't looked at the points, but it must be close by now. ... I have looked, and Lowes is now in the lead by seven points, having out-scored Bastianini by nine points in this race. Luca Marini appears to be doing a Reddin...

Re: MotoGP R12 Gran Premio Liqui Moly de Teruel 25 Oct

Honda have made a bunch of changes to suit Alex's ride style said some article I read. It does make me wonder that with Marc missing that there has been more focus on the other Honda riders. I was debating making a thread about this. Basically asking if Marc's absence has been a blessing in disguis...

Great result to see Takaaki Nakagami on pole. I don't remember him ever being on a MotoGP pole before. It would even better to see him take a win tomorrow. EDIT: Checked - it's his first pole.

It's only FP2, but I was still surprised that Alex Marquez is only 10th. How quickly expectations can change.

Re: MotoGP R12 Gran Premio Liqui Moly de Teruel 25 Oct

I would guess that FQ will not make the same tyre pressure error, and expect him to be challenging for the win. I'll predict that Alex Marquez will again do relatively well compared to the earlier part of the season. Not sure if he'll challenge for the win. But, we'll see. I thought that Michelin we...

I've just seen the highlights. Yep, after the first race of the weekend it looked pretty open. ** Spoilers *** But, Brookes then utterly smashed it with his two wins. That's how to seal the deal. I'll now go back to my pre-season prediction of a Brookes championship, and pretend that my changes of m...

Awesome news that Jake has re-signed with Petronas for next year, think he definitely deserves it. Moto2 is probably one of the toughest classes to race, and he has only been on that Kalex chassis for a short period of time. Yes, that's good news. Not all riders get a fair shake of the stick, and i...

I've now seen the final weekend. Rea's championship hasn't really been in doubt for a long time. Scott tried this year, but Rea had too much of an advantage over the year. It'll be interesting to see if he can up a level with experience. The win and a Ducati 1-2 was a great way for Davies to end his...

Re: 2020 world championship prediction

Dovi winning would be the largest middle finger ever. And the awkwardness. I am surprised Maverick has been able to hang in for so long. If only Mir could steal a win and build a cushion... but I still feel Quartararo will take it even if he has to sweat much more than I expected before. Maverick i...

Alex Marquez is my rider of the day. One thing: People were saying before that Honda had put all their eggs in the Marc Marquez basket, and if Marc left they would be in the doldrums for a long time. It looks as if their recovery could be shorter than previously predicted. I wonder how, if Marc retu...

I think 4th is a good result for Jake. Imagine how pleased everyone would have been with that a few races ago. I think that Jake has done enough to stay this year and have a crack at the championship. For Sam Lowes, the actual championship should be possible this year. Particularly if we continue wi...

Re: MotoGP Rnd 10 Gran Premio Michelin® de Aragón

For me the most important story from qualifying was Quartararo falling off in FP3 or FP4 (?) and still being OK. That could have been his championship challenge failing right there. I'm expecting a FQ win tomorrow, and that could easily be the start of him cementing a championship. Mir and Miller ar...

Re: MotoGP Rnd 10 Gran Premio Michelin® de Aragón

After FP3 it appears that every single bike on the grid is working at this track, except for the Ducatis. My prediction: Dovi won't get out of Q1, and will lose major ground in the championship in the race. I read somewhere that he'd done a practice start next to Pedrosa on a KTM without it and wee ...
