Re: Round 6 - Gran Premio d'Italia Oakley (Mugello)

Looking at qualifying - the question is 'what is Marc up to'. Didn't seem to benefit him in the end. Though, perhaps that is what got him out of Q2. Quartararo ahead of a gaggle of Ducatis. He could run away with it, or perhaps he's going to be continuously repassed on the straight. I wouldn't like ...

Re: Round 6 - Gran Premio d'Italia Oakley (Mugello)

We'll see if everything changes for FP2, as it often does :D I watched the Crash.net preview, and they were pretty confident that Ducati are going to dominate, if only for their top speed advantage. I'll wait and see what happens. Having checked the live updates, it seems that MM93 is struggling. Do...

Round 6 - Gran Premio d'Italia Oakley (Mugello)

Last year Mugello was cancelled. In 2019 Ducati riders were first and third with MM93 second.

It would be the obvious prediction that Ducati will do well again at their home track. But, I think there's ample possibility that after two years away things may have changed. We'll see.

Re: SHARK Grand Prix de France - rd.5

Moto3: Well, Acosta is human. Those 8th place points are still impressive given he fell off. I suspect that come the end of the year, he's not going to need those points though. Particularly with so many of his championship rivals having fallen off. Moto2: Surely Lowes is going to be out of the cham...

Re: SHARK Grand Prix de France - rd.5

Very interesting and exciting race. Again, I was involved in live chat where I was making predictions that were proved wrong. Personally I thought that someone would pit for slicks and win that way. Great win by Miller. He has Zarco behind him in win it or bin it mode, and did what he needed to do t...

Re: SHARK Grand Prix de France - rd.5

I came here to find all the people who had predicted that Salvadori and Marini would top Q1.

Even though he was pushed down a bit at the end, this qualifying is still a step forward for MM93. Though, it seems that this track does favour the Honda.

Re: SHARK Grand Prix de France - rd.5

Marc now goes top in FP3, but it's a wet practice. Still 6th overall when considering combined times I think. Three Hondas going straight through to FP1, so perhaps this track suits their bike. I note that Espargaro is even further up. That Morbidelli accident when practicing changing bikes was real...

Re: Spanish GP - Round 4

According to snippets of an interview with MM93 on MotoGP.com, his medical check after Jerez showed the bone is going ok. He also said he is very far from having equal strength in both arms and is looking to see how he is after the summer break. So no, he is not going to suddenly bounce back and su...

Re: SHARK Grand Prix de France - rd.5

I've read elsewhere that in FP1 that Miller went out on Slicks in the wet to record the fastest time. Don't know the details, is this correct? Was the track drying? Edit: confirmed he was on slicks https://resources.motogp.com/files/results/2021/FRA/MotoGP/FP1/Analysis.pdf According to Crash.net, o...

Re: SHARK Grand Prix de France - rd.5

I think the biggest question will be whether Fabio Quartararo will have overcome his armpump problems. Even if the inline 4s weren't strong last year, I would think a fully fit FQ may have a good crack at it. And in Moto3 will Pedro Acosta make it five wins in a row? EDIT: Four. I saw predictions of...

Spanish GP - Round 4

Thanks @kenup for starting a thread for round 5. I got behind on things. I thought I still had a race to watch somewhere, but found that I'd already seen round 4. I'm watching it again now in order to be able to comment. Moto3 Acosta again! That kid seems to have it all. Maybe excepting qualifying p...

Re: Grande Prémio 888 de Portugal - Rd 3

I have now seen the Moto2 and Moto3 races. Moto2: Sam Lowes should be a favourite for this year. However, he needs to stay on his bike. Moto3: Pedro Acosta - what can we say? He appears to have it all. I'm going to go out on a limb and predict that he will win the Moto3 championship this year withou...

Re: Should Suzuki get Morbidelli and drop Rins?

Just a thought after yet another podium lost for Rins. Assuming no problems with money and contract clauses, what do you guys think about this? Right now, I'd say yes. Right now, I'd say too early. Let's see what happens throughout the year. Both are good riders. I'm not sure which would be better ...

Re: Grande Prémio 888 de Portugal - Rd 3

I've see the race now. Though, I only avoided it being spoiled by not really interpreting what I saw in the youtube video preview correctly. I thought ahead of time it was going to be a MM93 win. When I saw qualifying (late) yesterday, I was surprised to see MM93 in first quali, having only seen his...

Re: Grande Prémio 888 de Portugal - Rd 3

It's going to be an interesting race. In a normal situation 6th would give Marc a crack at the win. However, we'll see whether there are still fitness issues or residual weakness which may tell over a race distance. Or something else entirely. FQ seems well placed for a win here if he can break out ...

And, sixth in FP2. However, Bagnaia has a 0.34s gap on second place. M.Marquez is only 0.143 behind second place.

I interpret this as Bagnaia going for a fast run that nobody else did, and Marc being there or thereabouts at the front. I would no longer be surprised to see him on pole.

I'm making no predictions. But, because of a certain MM93, I'm much more interested to see the results of the early practice sessions than I usually am.

Heads off to crash.net ... EDIT: MM93 third fastest in FP1. Already (relatively) quicker than I expected he'd get for the entire weekend.

I'm wondering if he will risk falling off in free practice, which has previously been a technique he used to find the limit I predict he will be much more careful about falling off in general, and this will affect his performance going forward. Predictions can easily be wrong. How much of an effect...

Was the first one not a decent ride? Struggled last week but let's not forget how serious that wrist injury was last year I thought he got knocked off. I'm too late to post pre-season. So, here is my prediction after the first two races.

1. Quartararo
2. Vinales
3. Zarco
4. M Marquez
5. Miller

Unfair to Mir, Morbidelli, Bagnaia, etc. But, I have to pick 5.

Oh, and sadly:

12. Rossi
