Re: World SBK in 2021

Interesting point about the timing of the rev limit changes. Given BMW's performance this year being good but not stellar, could Redding show up at a time when BMW is granted a boost comparative to their competition. I don't know the rules well enough - this might be impossible I don't know. Scott r...

Re: Scott Redding to BMW

I was very surprised to hear of Redding going to BMW. I wonder if the die was cast a few weekends ago when things were looking much less promising for Redding than they are now. His stated reasons were Ducati's failure to develop the bike. I can't see whom Ducati are going to get who would have a be...

If you want your child to grow up to be world champion, you need them to race as kids

Re: BSB 2021

I've only just caught up on last Weekend's racing. As already discussed above, O'Halloran is looking very strong. Not winning every race, but it's notable that 2nd and 3rd in the championship have a number of DNFs each. O'Halloran has won nine races, and nobody else has won more than two. That patte...

Re: Silly Season

Toprak to Yamaha seems a no brainer. But, it's far from certain that he will win the WSBK championship this year. Though he seems in with a better shout to do so than any non-Rea rider for quite some time. If he doesn't, then I can see the logic of staying in WSBK to give it another shot. There's no...

Re: World SBK in 2021

I'm up to date again as of some days ago. It looks as if Toprak is mounting the best challenge Rea has had for a while. It'll be interesting to see what happens. It helps that Redding is back on form and is taking points off Rea. Still think that Rea has the greatest chance of winning this year, but...

Re: BSB 2021

I think I'm back up to speed with BSB after watching all highlights recorded on my box. Unless there's something happening this weekend. There's certainly a fight at the top, but Iddon being taken out does not help the championship at all. At least there's the shootout equalisation coming up. So, ev...

Re: Round 11 - Austrian GP

Q2 was awesome. Wow. FQ''s expression said it all. It is never over until it's over. EDIT: I've seen Q1 now. When I said above that nobody unexpected didn't go through Q1, that was a brain fart because of course Martin did. Some time ago, here, I asked if anyone had ever gone through Q1 and then wa...

Round 11 - Austrian GP

Bagnaia and Zarco looking good so far, based on combined times after FP3. Marc Marquez in 4th. That's higher than he's been for a while and perhaps he will be a contender in qualifying and the race. Aleix Espargaro also in a good position, given he's on the Aprilia. I'm not seeing huge surprises as ...

Re: Silly Season

Commentators were saying that it's very likely that Ogura will arrive in MotoGP. Given his speed, Moto2 race wins appear on the cards. Perhaps a bit of moderation when he's near the front would help. Getting penalties and then not completing the long lap properly aren't going to help. It seems that ...

Re: The Strange Case Of Maverick Vinales

I'm just coming back into MotoGP news after a week not looking much, and I find this. This is just really odd. It's one thing if we get very young riders who do weird things (and even then I don't think Romano Fenati should have been effectively forgiven.) But, Maverick is an experienced rider who h...

Re: Round 10 STYRIA Red Bull Ring Spielburg

Maverick had a day to forget and we barely bat an eye. 2021 can’t end soon enough for him. Of all the winners and losers with the race being red flagged and restarted, Maverick was probably the biggest loser. He looked a contender before that. Somehow I missed him starting in the pitlane. I was wat...

Re: Silly Season

Commentary today says that other manufacturers were sniffing around Fernandez, so KTM acted to make sure that they keep him. I'm not sure where the silly season has got to. Seats available at Yamaha and Petronas. I wonder if they are unfilled because they were targetting Fernandez. I don't think any...

Re: Round 10 STYRIA Red Bull Ring Spielburg

Bagnaia is looking good and I think is due a win. I would love to see Dani in the top 6 Oh dear... Post-race edit: That was a much better result for Dani than it looked he might get when his bike was on fire in the middle of the track. Great result for Martin to win his first race. Absolutely no lu...

Re: Round 10 STYRIA Red Bull Ring Spielburg

I've just caught up on the qualifying. Great pole from Martin. Yes, Quartararo lost his time, but if he had stayed within the bounds of the track he may not have been so fast. Marc Marquez is staying there and thereabouts, and when he went faster fell off. Again, I'm sure others could have obtained ...

Re: Silly Season

It seems that VR46 is claiming that Aramco will be a sponsor, but Aramco is saying that they will not be. Sounds rather confusing... This article says that Rossi may need to race in 2022 to make sure that the team can find sponsorship. https://www.autosport.com/motogp/news/podcast-explaining-the-spo...

Re: BSB 2021

I've seen the races from Knockhill now. Certainly a complete turnaround from the first weekend with O'Halloran scoring poorly apart from his 2nd place in the first race. Iddon managed a reasonable showing at both weekends and is rewarded with the championship lead. Rory Skinner looks very much to be...

Re: Moto GP schedual and the corona virus...

Can I ask how you guys outwith the UK are doing vaccination wise, it seems to be one of the things we have done well. Given the large percentage of population who have had both ( or even 1 jab) it seems the link between cases and hospitalisations has been broken . England are pretty much on route t...

In regards to VR46, are they an additional team to the grid or taking over Avinta ?
I believe that they are a new team taking over Avinta's grid slots. But, Avinta has VR46 in its team name now.

Just out of interest who would you guys put on the Aprilia or VR46 Ducati rather than MV? Let's say team mate at Aprilia is Aleix Espargaro and Marini on VR46. Only Moto2 riders I could think - Raul Fernandez? I don't know if either team would have the money or inclination to bully out KTM. Dovi? F...

Re: BSB 2021

Hickman is looking good in third, but it does look as if O'Halloran and Iddon are a step up at the moment. Of course, that can change quickly. Tommy Bridewell would be further up if not for that no-score in race 2. But, I've seen quite a few years of Bridewell fighting for the podium and the occasio...

Re: World SBK in 2021

I've seen all the races now. Race 1 earliest thanks to @mikesbytes recommendation. How things change in a weekend. Initially it was looking as if it would be another year of Rea winning with someone else (Redding) struggling to stay within reach. Now we have Razgatlioglu leading the championship. Wi...
