Re: The end of the racing twin?

Supertwins are bloody brilliant, the two races at last years North West 200 are some of the best racing I've ever seen.

Re: State of world superbikes

There tends to be a cycle with regards to excitement, SBK was way more exiting than GP in the mid-to-late 90's, then Rossi-mania and the switch to 4-strokes took the mantle back for GP for a 5 years or so, then SBK became more exciting again up until maybe 4 years ago, 2014 was a cracking season but...

Re: TT 2019

Michael Dunlop picked up an award posthumously awarded to his late brother William last night and said he has no plans for this year, hasn't sat on a bike since Skerries last July and has opened up a nightclub and taken up flying, said he's going to "sit down and think about what direction to go in"...

Re: British superbike champion

It will be interesting to see how Redding does go, some of those circuits are going to be pretty alien too him I think as he's not likely to have raced places like Cadwell, Oulton, Brands, Thruxton, Snetterton and Knockhill since he was a nipper.

Re: State of world superbikes

They should really go down the BSB route, especially now STK1000 has gone, get rid of rider aids and use spec ECU's, great racing in that series and much more affordable than it use to be when the top teams were running ex-World Superbike machines against privateers.

Re: TT 2019

There's some young lads who really impressed last year, Davey Todd, Adam McLean and Dominic Herbertson. Derek McGee while not being as young(32) had a great year last year and he'll definitely be a threat in the lightweight race. As far as I'm aware, there's a seat still at Norton, one at Honda and ...

Re: TT 2019

As far as I'm aware Michael has no racing plans for next year as of yet, he's recently bought a bar complex with a business partner in Portstewart and is planning on renovating that in the new year. I personally think he will race again whether it will be next year I'm not sure, TAS Racing haven't a...

Re: Should Dorna work harder to recruit riders from outside?

That was Carl Fogarty's problem in the 90's, nobody offered him an incentive to move to Grand Prix, Dorna wanted him but nobody offered a ride worth taking and it's not like he couldn't ride a 500 as he certainly didn't disgrace himself when he filled in for Chili in 1990 or in those wildcard rides ...

Re: Standing water on the track

600's are gone. soon all 1000cc streetbikes will go the same route, except for people buying them to do trackdays. the 1000's will become a small niche for the wealthy. What relevance do they have then to "race on sunday sell on monday" ? I don't think they'll be going anywhere anytime soon, new ve...

Re: Standing water on the track

my preference would be to convert SBK back to a form of series the way it was born : naked bikes. but the lack of space for sponsor's on the bike will probably be too big a hurdle. Well I remember reading a couple of years ago now that they were considering replacing Supersport 600 with 600cc naked...

Re: Standing water on the track

As David says, mugello is getting close to being too dangerous and that's just because they're going so fast. easy solution: slower bikes. watching a supersport race, I've not once thought "this is boring, bikes are way to slow." sadly Dorna missed an opportunity. by increasing Moto2 cc and power, ...

Re: 2018 round 12 - GoPro British GP Silverstone 24-26 Aug

Jeez, what a pain. I've seen races cancelled before for standing water - I was in it (the race, not the water) - clubmans 600s at Croft. What made me chuckle was that as we trooped off on our not-good-enoung-for-the-conditions race wets, I saw a big naked bike on Supercorsas (our dry tyre of choice...

Re: Racing circuit pantheon

Coincidence or not, F1 dropped the old Nurburgring after 1976. I wonder if anyone ever raced at both. Surtees and Hailwood are sure bets, I’m sure there are others too but what these two did will never be matched. 76’ was the year finally it came to a head, top drivers and riders trying to boycott ...

Nah, missed it this year unfortunately due to a mixture of reasons, hoping to be there next year, but I'm at the TT for the whole fortnight next year so may have to check my finances at the time to see if I can get to the Manx. I prefer the Manx, less idiots about.

What about Bradley Ray, Suzuki. Winner of the first BSB race of season 2018. How about those specs on the podium ? Does he wear specs like that when he is racing? Definitely a fresh face. Great to see Bradley doing so well. Yeah I thought he was very impressive last season as well outpointing the o...

You can't compare the 2 eras no matter how hard you try.
True, old school GP has more in common with modern Irish road racing than it does with modern GP racing. Motorcycle road racing split into two disciplines following the late 70's and 80's.
