Re: Ulster Grand Prix(Spoilers)

If true that's absolutely outrageous, read about the winding up order on BBC yesterday :( Yep, it says to me that there is somebody willing to save it but they have no faith in the current committee and don't want their investment "disappearing" I'm not 100% downbeat about it as there was a point I...

Re: No April Fool

probably sensible but I was wondering about concocting one that had the TT moved to the beginning of the Manx , with a MotoGP round thrown in... Does anyone remember the one from 2(?) years ago about the TT to be run anti-clockwise? Funnily enough that is something that has been considered this yea...

Re: Ulster Grand Prix(Spoilers)

I read today clerk of the course Noel Johnston has resigned, he believes under the right management the race can continue and if that happens wouldn't rule out a return. Suggests to me he has no faith in the current management team There's rumours been going around recently that somebody stumped up...

Re: 2020 road racing line up

It will be interesting to see how the Ducati goes around the island, it's been some time since one has been there, think it was Rutter around 2011-12.

Re: 2020 road racing line up

Smiths Racing posted a week ago they've got some big news to announce in four weeks time, well four weeks from that post will be just before the TT launch event. I've got a hunch they'll be running a second BMW for Hutchy. I'm surprised TAS haven't announced anybody for the roads yet, it would have ...

Re: 2020 road racing line up

I did not expect that! Hope it's a good move - it's been a while since McG has been anything other than a #1 rider for a factory (for the superbikes). There's been a fair bit of moving around this year, wonder if Hillier can get the results this year, he's been a nearly-man many times, maybe the ch...

Re: 2020 road racing line up

Ant, noticed something when I was scrolling through the Ulster GP tweets from the last two years. They seem to firmly blame poor spectator numbers for the financial crisis faced by the event, rather than no financial mismanagement. Although it can't be an accurate guide of spectator numbers, they c...

Did you sort out a homestay Schwantz34?

I've booked my campsite and just paid the ferry fee off this week, I'm over from the 5th until the 14th.

Re: Ulster Grand Prix(Spoilers)

That's another good point, the field at the Ulster has thinned out quite a lot over the last few years with the tragic losses and injuries, not to mention some riders who used to do the Ulster like Guy Martin, Cameron Donald and James Hillier no longer taking part, McGuinness hasn't done it for a fe...

Re: Ulster Grand Prix(Spoilers)

You'd like to think the Northern Ireland government would step in seeing as they have no issues giving money to eejits to have bonfires while getting pissed and causing general mayhem. Maybe they'd give money to an event which brings positive behaviour and tourism to the area.

Re: Ulster Grand Prix(Spoilers)

You pay to watch at the Ulster, at each access road there's someone selling wristbands at £30 a go. I honestly don't mind paying but I see there was a hoo ha about how government money was spent this year. Apparently they were granted this money to improve safety and a large chunk was spent on impr...

Re: Ulster Grand Prix(Spoilers)

No way, I'd be gutted I'm hoping it's just tittle tattle but ever since the meeting was totally washed out in 2008 they've been struggling to keep it running and there wasn't a big turnout this year due to the weather. I'd like to see them(and any other club for that matter) set up a Go Fund Me pag...

Sadly there's rumours circulating from people more in the know than me that the Ulster may well be finished, I know they've been struggling for a long time now.

Re: Ulster Grand Prix(Spoilers)

Quite a lot of trouble makers around when I went a couple of years ago who apparently were locals, various things such as aggressive behaviour in bars, they kicked over a load of bikes with ROI plates on. Then at the event itself there was gestapo like security ranting and raving at you, I can't eve...

Re: Ulster Grand Prix(Spoilers)

Have either of you been over to the Ulster? Can't recommend it highly enough, several incredible spots to watch including Flying Kilo, Dears Leap, Pullits Gate and maybe less so the exit of Loughers/ approach to Joey's Windmill. No I'd love to though, been to the North West 200(never again) and Ske...

Re: What drew you to MotoGP?

I think it was a natural progression due to being interested in bikes from a young age rather than any single rider, I used to obsess whenever a bike rode past or I saw one parked up and then in 1992 my grandparents bought be the Isle of Man TT 1992 VHS review and from then on I just watched any for...

I'll be at Oulton Park tomorrow and Sunday, it's only an hour away from me, weather's looking good for the weekend too though it'll be a bit wet in practice today.

I'll also be following the results from Killalane, the last Irish National Road Races of the year.

Yeah, i ran out of holiday this year. On average i marshall every other year. Agree with ypu re the classic tt. Got a lot of time for Phil.
