Re: Silly Season

Jack Miller taking over Cal's LCR slot on a factory bike seems to me to be a decent move, if Ducati doesn't move him up into the factory team.

Re: Silly Season

Bagnaia scored three top ten finishes last year on the previous year's Duc. With Miller being nearly always in the top ten when he finished, having last year's bike looks to be a significant advantage. Bagnaia had a few good finishes, so did Quatoraro (and Zarco before him) on a year old bike, Naka...

Re: Silly Season

Brave predictions Japhrodisiac, probably no less accurate than any of us will guess Zarco's Avintia deal includes 2 Ducati engineers and 2 Ducati electronic staff, however reading the following article it appears that that's for both riders making it a bit thiner than it initially appeared so perha...

Re: Silly Season

With Zarco now confirmed at Avintia for 2020, Silly season looks to get going early for 2021 seats. A fun scenario would be for Dovi and Maverick to swap seats, Jarvis' latest comments seem to indicate that he wishes Maverick to feel welcome, and that maybe he was getting the feeling that Mav would ...

Re: Silly Season

Reports of Zarco's signing along with his typical shitty attitude, bad-mouthing Avintia all the while they are throwing him a lifeline : "Speaking with French publication Moto Journal, Zarco revealed the Avintia deal is done and that Ducati general manager Luigi Dall'Igna convinced him to have faith...

Re: Silly Season

Methinks he will take a while to adapt but then do alright on it, some top 6's perhaps Will be tough for him to reach the top 6 in my opinion... based on it being an Avintia GP19... MM, MV, AD, FQ, FM, AR, JM36, JM43, VR, CC... then there's the likes of Petrucci, Bagnaia on Ducati's, Aliex and Pol....

Re: Silly Season

So Avintia will have 2 GP19's next year meaning that if Zarco does arrive then he's not getting the latest bike. It does state "with updates" which is suggesting better support. Article also suggests that Zarco's contract may be direct with Ducati https://www.autosport.com/motogp/news/147361/zarcol...

Re: Silly Season

What appears to have happened is that once Ducati signed to increase their support of Avintia (likely to pave the way for Zarco) then they no longer required Karel's money to lease his bikes. With that pressure off, if you had the chance, would you opt for a rider of Zarco's level, or Abraham's leve...

Re: Silly Season

I am honestly fed up with Zarco, the sense of entitlement, the open insults to the other teams working their asses off, the other riders that would give their left or right nut to be in a position for some of the offers he's been given... To turn down the Avintia ride with the promise of extra suppo...

Another version, is that Jorge goes to Ducati in some capacity, Gigi is a huge fan of Jorge's, so maybe we'll see him there somehow...?

Re: Behind Closed Doors...

I might be crazy but it's the only thing that explains letting Folger go this late in the game and this close to the Valencia test, but Jorge might be contracted until the end of the year, who knows? It's mostly fantasy at this point but I have a sneaky feeling that we haven't seen the last of him

I for one would have really liked to see him on a Suzuki, or satellite Yamaha, I think he would have had a few more years in him if so.

Re: Lorenzo's press conference

So now, like Dani, will we be hearing of his test rider role shortly afterwards (with Yamaha)? Oh that would be sublime. Jorge developing a bike for Vale to ride. LOL    Or Fabio and Maverick, seems like Vale for all his greatness is the last to the party of making the current Yamaha...

Re: Lorenzo's press conference

For all of his detractors, honestly one of the best, most classy press conferences I have ever seen. I will miss him, what a wonder he was when the bike suited him, lest we forget, which was more often than not.

Re: Behind Closed Doors...

Does anyone else feel Jorge is waiting to ride the 2020 RCV before making a decision? Testing the new Honda before making a decision seems like the most sensible thing to do for all parties, including HRC. I feel like HRC is going to try to force him to sign before he gets to ride. Def seems right ...

Re: Behind Closed Doors...

Does Jorge's career fare better by seeing out his Repsol contract to the end without results in 2 years, or calling it quits, posting great times as a test rider and then being available when silly season is in full swing? I think the latter, given all the circumstances

Re: Behind Closed Doors...

I don't think Jorge would stoop to the level of test rider. He's either on a factory bike racing or nothing at all. Of course, I may be wrong. Agreed. Can't see why he would do that despite how good he would be at providing feedback. He strikes me as a proud man and a position as a test rider is in...

Behind Closed Doors...

Carmelo has come out yesterday apparently urging Lorenzo to 'make up his mind' about his future with Honda, an odd intervention, unless one factors in that he may be being used as a face-saving intermediary. Then today we hear that Folger is not being offered the Yamaha test rider job. So, we have Y...

Re: Silly Season

I suspect that this really isn't about replacing Jorge, if things work out for Zarco on the bike, but maybe it is about replacing Cal, and Cal voluntarily retiring early, at the end of this season. HRC gets a free try to see if Zarco can use the bike, Zarco gets a chance, Nakagami can get in the sur...
