Re: Ducati goings on

First day of the Qatar test simply adds to the perception of confusion (or perhaps it's only the confusion of perception!) about what's been happening at Ducati. After all the sturm und drang following Valencia and basically fairly much continuing up to and including Sepang II with the concurrent d...

Re: Ducati goings on

Yes, and the only thing we can really take from the Sepang test is that Ducati is having problems at Sepang, which of course they have eight months to fix before the race and can always revert back to the 2010 bike which was faster. It is a lot of doom and gloom based on one track... Yes, as last y...

Re: Ducati goings on

This is the problem - Ducati have gotten themselves mired into a mix of conflicting press conferences and quotes. The releases post Valencia were in the vein of "were working on the chassis, to soften it up and provide better feel", while subsequent quotes and tests have seemed to focus almost exclu...

Re: Question on Malaysia

The track is way outside the city of KL, basically next to the airport. Not much to see or do around Sepang, but lots to see around Malaysia. Singapore is def worth avisit if youve never been, and not far off to great places like Bali ot central Java if you want to throw some travelling in. I split ...

Re: Ducati goings on

some interesting posts above and in general I would have to agree that the Duc sucks. One small point of disagreement would be Rossi's first test results. I know Vale's performance was put down to his shoulder, but this was pre-op and he also had podiumed 3 days prior and could not cut a single fas...

Re: Ducati goings on

A big part of the Ducati mess seems to be, as WayneG points out, the fact that the bike is essentially the same machine as last year, without the one winning catalyst ingredient - Stoner. Yamaha have made a small step forward (and I think Ben has made that step as well - fantastic!), Honda have made...

Re: Ducati goings on

Phoenix, It's a decent argument, as good as any I suppose, but leaves one to wonder : who/what is the control bike/tire that Bridgestone now develops for? They will surely look at data and verbal input from all major sources, but in making the decisions on which way to go, what bike and rider are th...

Re: Ducati goings on

I've always had much respect for Stoner, since his 250 days, mostly because he could regularly take it to the factory boys, and almost won the championship - on a private or semi-private Aprilia. These bikes were notoriously difficult to set up properly, yet Stoner always seemed to do well on his, r...

Re: Ducati goings on

I appreciate the depth of consideration in your replies, but my main question to date is unanswered - if stiffness was thought to be the problem, why were all the bits that were made to counter this situation left in the truck? It seems as if nothing related to their previous pre-test press releases...

Ducati goings on

Hi all, Just looking for a bit of clarity vis the Ducati situation. It has been reported that Ducati had not even (as of Sepang 2, late on in 2nd day) started to test the new flex package (front subframe, 42mm forks, thinner or milled triple clamps etc). If true, what would be the rationale here? Cl...

Re: Dorna coverage

A copy of the letter I submitted to MotoGp.com - I am saddened to see that MotoGp.com has chosen not to cover the recent Sepang tests and provide streaming video, live scoring and timing etc. I know that there are many people looking forward to the upcoming season, and I was prepared to purchase you...

Re: Dorna coverage

How does this year's (lack of) coverage compare to other years on the testing front? Lately I've had more spare time on my hands so I've been looking for as much info as possible. I guess that I just find it hard to believe that Dorna would miss the opportunity to make some money, allow teams and sp...

Dorna coverage

So here I sit, snowed in, a few days off work, looking for online coverage of the Sepang tests. My only option seems to buy a 24.95 Euro post season package from MotoGp.com (which is only good until the end of the month, apparently). Sadly, this is more than the 12.95 per month coverage, but given t...
