Re: Standing water on the track

From what I have read in the past it is very difficult to get the correct balance between a soft/elastic enough surface that is grippy but hard enough to avoid ripples and bumps especially from the cars, and grip additives tend to also hold water more on the surface so it's all a compromise like eve...

Yes, saw that rumour also, I think he's a talented rider. Though, a bit surprised that RDP didn't want to do it. He's been out of MotoGp for ages but has plenty of current riding time in Endurance. He's a red mist type of guy, I don't think he can hold back if he wanted to once the lights go out

Re: Jorge Lorenzo

I just rewatched much of the 2004 125 season especially Assen is a great race Jorge aggressive as hell like he was on the 250's also, as well as running roughshod over Dovi many times. Not sure how anyone who has been viewing for a long time thinks he cannot fight.

If they repaved it and moved the Armco, Road America would be lovely, as would Mosport. Road Atlanta is one of my favourite tracks to ride on, ever.

Rossi rode the same bike didn't he? To use your words he rides the bike smoothly.
Which is it?

Re: 2018 Round 11 - eyetime Motorrad Grand Prix von Österrei

Lorenzo, after his hard fighting 125 and 250 days landed on the Yamaha, and after some hard riding discovered the M1 was fastest if ridden smoothly. He adapted his riding style to the bike, not the other way around. Further, for a smooth flowing style, it is easier to have a clear track in front of...

Re: 2018 Round 11 - eyetime Motorrad Grand Prix von Österrei

Yep and to your point about Jorge riding off into the clear air to avoid burning up his tyres that is precisely what Rossi did not do. Ergo your point about only riding off at the front because the bike necessitated it is bunkum I said the M1 was fastest when ridden smoothly, which is not my theory...

Re: 2018 Round 11 - eyetime Motorrad Grand Prix von Österrei

Lorenzo mentioned in the post-race presser that his target is second in the championship, unlikely to win it unless something really crazy happens with MM. He was 14th at one point not too long ago, so if he does finish second that's an incredible accomplishment. He's scored more points than anyone ...

Re: 2018 round 10 - Monster Energy Grand Prix České republik

On a street bike you would have a stator/rotor with the rotor acting as a flywheel and adding significant rotating mass to the crankshaft. MotoGp bikes run total loss systems I believe, as the max time they need to run is 45 mins roughly. So the mass on the crankshaft is what it is, unable to add or...

Re: 2018 round 10 - Monster Energy Grand Prix České republik

There was a monent in which Marquez was a bike length from Dovi, and then Lorenzo overtook him and spaced them out. That cost both MM and JL their chances. I think Lorenzo was too obsessed with Dovi and lost sight of how to use Marc to do donkey work. It's acceptable though, Lorenzo is a novice com...

Re: Tech3 and Zarco

A couple of decent early season finishes for sure, but last year he had 9 top five finishes in 18 rounds, this year 2 out of 10 rounds, so a definite decline in performance overall. The crash in Lemans seemed to affect him a fair bit, but still, his form took a large downturn this year

Re: Silly Season 2018

I'd have to agree about Vinales. Wasn't he the one he packed up and quit his moto3 team half way through the championship only to be told to pull your head in and think about what your doing. Having just watched the Moto2 race (no spoilers), Fabio didn't have a great race. I'm very happy to see him...

Tech3 and Zarco

Zarco's struggles seem to be eerily timed right around when Tech3 announced that they wouldn't continue with Yamaha. I'm not one for conspiracy theories but Zarco regularly beating MV especially and Tech3 leaving for sure didn't sit well with Yamaha bosses. Did Zarco have to give back 500 revs that ...

Re: Silly Season 2018

I think a huge part of Vinales' troubles, not all, but a large part is in between his ears. Sure the current Yamaha has some disadvantages but Rossi is using his guile and experience to minimise them. Maverick was down 1 second from Rossi in Q2 at Brno, on the same bike. Maverick is wound up like a ...

I don't see Redding as a development rider. Maybe WSBK will have him. Brad Smith could go to Yamaha as they are starting a European development program to augment the Japan-based one with Nakasuga.
Once out of MotoGp these guys will stay out unless they win a race as a wildcard rider

Re: Silly Season 2018

Anyone watching closely the goings on at Yamaha can see that Jarvis is on the decline. He lost Jorge, which was preventable, he took on Maverick which was the best choice available at the time, maybe, but turned out to not match Jorge's results. He lost the Tech3 satellite team when apparently Yamah...

off course it was a racing incident. but you can not put any blame on DP. he wa on the racing line and did nothing wrong/weird/controversial/dangerous/... basicly you can put it all into one very simple "rule of behaviour" : riders on the racing line have the priority. where the racing line ends is...

Re: Silly Season 2018

Hi I'm Scott Redding; I won't go to Moto2, because even if I won a championship, I won't be back in MotoGP. I won't become a MotoGP test rider, because, even if I'm fast, I'll never be back full time in MotoGP. I'm also an idiot because I just made excuses to limit myself to opportunities that even...
