I'm almost more impressed by Bastianini(sp? Sorry, on my phone). 3rd on a gp19?
Ok, it's not the rossi-wrecker, but still

Doesn't look like any of the new-class debutants did so well.

It can't be easy to hop on a new bike like that, but it's a shame they haven't shone.

Re: MotoGP 2021, Aragon. Win or bin, which Marquez will show up?

The report on FP2 isn't encouraging... https://www.crash.net/motogp/results/986969/1/aragon-motogp-motorland-free-practice-2-results (contains results of FP if that is a spoiler for anyone) "..., Marc Marquez was visibly angry after falling early in FP2 when he almost clipped the back of brother Ale...

"Is the BMW a good enough bike on a wide enough range of tracks for Hickman to stay strong? Or is this going to be a single weekend flash in the pan? " Hicky has always gone very well at Cadwell. I wonder if it is because it is a more road-like circuit than others (for those who don't know it, Cadwe...

Re: World SBK in 2021

One is reminded about another famous rider beginning with R. All fun and jokes when it's going well, then when it starts to slip the dark side comes out (Gibernau, Marquez). TBH, I have no problem with that per se (as long as it stays the right side of the legal line), but the idea that riders shoul...

Re: Will Marquez become the greatest racer of all Time?

I think he may have blown it (obv, we'll never know until the end - Rossi's Ducati years anyone?). Actually what I think will stop him being GOAT is that he is too much at one with one machine. This isn't to say ypi have to win on many bikes to become GOAT, but if the tech changes and you don't, the...

Re: Lolly Water British Gp

I didn't see the whole race, but every pass I saw by Quatarado was really nicely done.

I don't think he's a Casey Stoner alien (ie impossibly fast on unrideable machinery), but a brilliant tactician.

Re: Lolly Water British Gp

Great result for Aleix Espargaro and Aprillia - couldn't come at a better time for him, to throw a marker down for who gets the upgrades first next year. Interesting re Dovi. Wonder if they are thinking one old head one new head. Dovi has never been a crasher, so he'll most likely bring the bike bac...

Re: Silly Season

From what I have read it's more to do with the size of the racing department and the budget/personnel available to them rather than the actual size of the company, which as you say shouldn't be short of money. I believe Aprilia Racing is the smallest in this regard within the MotoGP paddock, even b...

Re: Valentino Rossi announces retirement

I am very pleased at this news, I think he ran the serious risk of tainting his own legacy. And obviously now he's got the time for a crack at the TT... :D It will be interesting to see what he does. I can't say I've always been a fan of his, but who can forget his first run on the M1 at Welkom? I r...

Re: Silly Season

Not a huge surprise, Saudis tend to take a very dim view of compromise in deals by the other side, and always want what they perceive to be the best/finest etc. Which is why you see so many top-spec lambos etc cluttering up Knightsbridge. If Rossi didn't know that, he was badly advised. (Personally,...

Re: Silly Season

I wonder if the Dorna honchos are trying to get Rea into MotoGP, he's basically won WSBK, answered every question that has been thrown at him. Short of banning anyone who's name begins with an R riding a bike starting with a K, it seems unlikely that any change will pull him back. Grand Prix bikes c...

Re: Silly Season

Would I take Mav on? Frankly no. He clearly has the talent, but has managed to not deliver and leave unhappy teams behind him. Unless I had a very clear picture of what was going wrong and how I could fix it, I'd steer clear. I think Aprillia, where the bike is much less developed and less refined w...

Interesting round-up. Rossi's possible retirement makes things interesting.

I don't see why the VR46 team would need a marquee rider in year one tbh.

I was being a bit flippant, but it really seems a startlingly daft move from Mav. Interesting that he puts in the best race after he's quit A satellite Ducati might be good for him - it's turned round Zarco (who is nothing like the same person/situation, but was motogp square peg in a round hole, an...

Good move by Aprillia A rider whose best times are usually on Friday and Saturday won't be overly inconvenienced by the regular mechanical DNFs on raceday... Re: Will BMW deliver with Van Der Mark?

I'm not sure the article in Crash.net found anyone to be up there. The heading was "can anybody beat Rea?" and as one of the comments said "that's a very long way of saying "no"" I think WSBK has gone through a lot of flux. I'm don't agree that it's all a bad idea - BSB seems to deliver good racing ...
