Re: Round 15 - Red Bull Grand Prix of the Americas - Circuit of the Americas

Miller was also on the podium but 8 seconds back. The 2019 results don't give a clear indication of particular bikes having an advantage at this circuit.

I'm predicting a shootout between Quartararo and Bagnaia too

Re: Round 14 - Gran Premio Octo di San Marino e della Riviera di Rimini Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli

All direct to Q1 result were from FP3, Vinales got there by being fast in FP3, so the weather change in FP1 and wet in FP2 didn't gift Vinales direct passage to Q1, he earnt it. Should be noted that he tested the Aprilia at the same circuit a couple of weeks earlier. It's a shame that Bastianini doe...

Re: Round 14 - Gran Premio Octo di San Marino e della Riviera di Rimini Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli

No gonna lie, Moto GP's qualifying sessions have never been so boring. Watching riders wait for tows and then run around in conga lines has completely killed my enthusiasm for Q1 and Q2. Not to mention the cameras only follow MM (the worse offender), so of course I saw none of Bastianini's fast lap...

Re: Round 14 - Gran Premio Octo di San Marino e della Riviera di Rimini Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli

FP1 dry, wet at the end. It doesn't appear that anyone went for a time attack as they used the same tyres unless they did a lap in the wet at the end on wets. Vinales up the top of the times, which wasn't expected. Dovi at the bottom of the times, which was to be expected as he probably hasn't had a...

Re: Silly Season

Dovi has finally signed with Yamaha and will ride Morbidelli's old bike for rest of the season and will ride the full season in 2022 with the same team, which will have a new name. Doesn't say what bike he will ride in 2022 but its been stated previously that it will be the 2022 Yamaha. https://www....

Re: Round 14 - Gran Premio Octo di San Marino e della Riviera di Rimini Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli

Last year 4th was Rossi's second best result of 2020 followed by the rot that lasted for the rest of the year with a best result of 12th, he did miss a race or 2 due to covid. I'm not anticipating another 4th out of Rossi but it might motivate him. Bike wise the I4's took 5 of the top 6 places, only...

Re: MotoGP 2021, Aragon. Win or bin, which Marquez will show up?

Bastianini had a fantastic race. If he is out of MotoGP at the end of the season he will remember this race for the rest of his life

Big names out of the points, each for a different reason;
16 Crutchlow
17 Zarco
18 Vinales
19 Rossi

Enea Bastianini, if he can back up that qualifying with a similar result that will be his best I think. I don't think he's got a ride for next year yet

Re: MotoGP 2021, Aragon. Win or bin, which Marquez will show up?

MM did a hot lap in FP1 and with Mir's hot lap being disallowed that's why he ended up 1 second ahead of everyone else. Miller for example did long runs using the same tyres for the entire session. MM binned it in FP2 so we don't really know where he would of ended up, his FP1 hot lap put him 8th on...

Re: Silly Season

I guess that Vinales joined Yamaha with Rossi there and Rossi was the aging superstar so there wasn't really any team mate pressure but this year saw Quatararo join and suddenly there was a reason to be #1 in the team but it turned out that he was #2 despite being paid a lot more. Somehow I suspect ...

Re: Will Marquez become the greatest racer of all Time?

I''m trying to think of examples where riders took this long to regain full fitness. I'm not sure that I can remember cases of it taking a long time once someone is riding again. Mick Doohan is the closest I can think of where there was an injury that resulted in lost championships (1992 & 1993) an...

Vinales to race for Aprilia from this weekend taking Savadori's bike. Savadori will get some wildcards + testing This will be very interesting to see. Almost nobody jumps on a new bike and beats the incumbent from the first race. So, what happens next race will likely not be the whole story. But, t...

Re: Will Marquez become the greatest racer of all Time?

Back in 2017 I created to this thread to discuss whether M Marquez would topple Ago pointing out that he had youth on his side but his riding was risky so perhaps he wouldn't get there due to injury. We debated the concept of GOAT amongst other things. So where do you think he will end up if we just...

Re: Silly Season

What is the most likely Yamaha line up for 2022? Factory is Quartararo, Morbidelli Satellite is Dovi on a factory bike and the A-Spec bike is yet to be filled. They said they were going to bring new talent into MotoGP, most likely from Moto2 and then they signed Dovi so its a case of say one thing,...

Re: Lolly Water British Gp

Quartararo's victory was like a double victory as his main competitors were nowhere and the best of those was Miller with a 4th but Miller is 5th in the championship. Ironically Mir moved into 2nd in the championship with a 9th place. It will take 2 dnf's over the last 6 races for Quartararo to loos...

Re: Michelin, destroyer of dreams?

Bridgestone had its features too. There was a wide variety between the options for an event and we ended up seeing almost every bike on the same option in a race and this resulted in the manufacturers making the bikes as similar as each other to deal with same option racing Like many of us I'd like ...

I was very surprised to hear of Redding going to BMW. I wonder if the die was cast a few weekends ago when things were looking much less promising for Redding than they are now. His stated reasons were Ducati's failure to develop the bike. I can't see whom Ducati are going to get who would have a b...

Looking at the 2019 results Rins and M Marquez very close followed by 3 Yamahas then a Honda but those riders well spaced out. So the track looks good for the i4's + Honda, however the Ducati's are doing well in FP2. I'll go for Quartararo for the win https://resources.motogp.com/files/results/2019/...

Vinales might bring some sponsorship for the remaining races of the 2021 season but its short notice and its not like the money is burning holes in the sponsors pockets in the current economic climate
