Re: Round 18 - Valencia GP - Circuit Ricardo Tormo

I hear Gardner has 2 broken ribs from his off last week - not sure if this is accurate, but it's pretty impressive he won the race in that case.
He will still be in some serious pain if he is in fact nursing broken ribs, so I'm not surprised he hasn't set the world on fire this weekend.

Re: Marquez's bang on the head

Back in 2011 he damaged the 4th cranial nerve. This nerve has only one job, it innervates the superior oblique muscle of the eye, which is responsible for moving the eye inwards and downwards. Apparently in 2011, the problem was due to pressure on the nerve from local swelling and this was relieved ...

Re: Round 15 - Red Bull Grand Prix of the Americas - Circuit of the Americas

We have seen this several times, a rider is about the top of the timesheets all the way thru practice and then bombs in qualifying blaming a tyre, this time its Miller. Miller is pretty good about admitting fault when he stuffs up, so if he is blaming the tyre I reckon there is no need to doubt him.

I'd like to see JM43 on the top step. As to which Marquez will show up - the desperate one.

Re: Will Marquez become the greatest racer of all Time?

I''m trying to think of examples where riders took this long to regain full fitness. I'm not sure that I can remember cases of it taking a long time once someone is riding again. The humerus/scapula interface ie. shoulder joint is rubbish from a biomechanical perspective. It does not take much to m...

Combined times - Hondas in 7, 9, 10. Straight through to Q1, but not looking promising for a Honda pole. We'll see. BTW: Is anyone else disengaging from Moto3 qualifying? As it seems utterly inconsequential as pretty much the entire field is all mixed up from the qualifying order after the first lo...

Who's your guess for the top 2 in Q1? 1. Miller 2. Pol Well picked! Marquez M repeated his trick from last time and chose Jack as his victim. Jack was unfazed and treated it with good humour. Unfortunately for Marc, Pol had latched on to the back and pipped his team mate for the 2nd qualy spot.

Not so impressed by MM93. I would have thought he would have been tempered a bit by his recent history. It seems not. Both crashes looked reasonably benign in terms of him being beaten up by physics, but that may be luck. For some reason, I initially read that as "beaten up by psychics" - which had...

Re: Spanish GP - Round 4

According to snippets of an interview with MM93 on MotoGP.com, his medical check after Jerez showed the bone is going ok. He also said he is very far from having equal strength in both arms and is looking to see how he is after the summer break. So no, he is not going to suddenly bounce back and sur...

His humerus needed to recover from the infection before proper fracture healing could take place. A fracture will heal in 6-8 weeks assuming no complications and by healing that means requires no further support eg from a cast or brace. It will take longer for the healing bone to achieve full streng...

Re: Performance enhancing substances

I think the sentence handed to Iannone is ridiculous. Sure the defence he offered was total bullshit, but the advantages of using such substances in motorcycling must be minimal compared to proper athletic sports eg cycling, running etc. Do they not take this into account for sentencing? No, they d...

I like this back to back experiment. Season opener would have been better but I guess the situation with travel t...

Marquez broke his titanium plate holding his bone together by opening a window. But, reading the text, it seems that this was the straw that broke the camel's back after previous strain had been put on the plate. https://www.crash.net/motogp/news/941138/1/marc-marquez-broke-arm-plate-opening-window...

Yes, I'm a bit mystified about Dovi - it's not like they didn't have the setup already dialled in from last week. Maybe some minor tweakage needed, but he did much better last week.

MM93 did not post a time in Q2. AM73 had a crash and appears to have injured his right arm.

What are the chances of that?

Re: MotoGP R3 26-7-20 Gran Premio Red Bull de Andalucía

Totally agree - it would be interesting to know what criteria they are using to assess fitness. There comes a point when clinical judgement should override riders' wishes and in the case of Rins, Crutchlow and Marquez, they should not be on the track this weekend.

I don't see what choice Honda has. Marquez is the goose laying championship eggs, and HRC have to do whatever it takes to keep him. Everyone knows he could win at another manufacturer. And by giving him more power they've just come off the biggest rider points haul in the history of the championshi...

Re: Silly Season

None of those riders already have bum shoulders or are riding on bikes as physical as the Honda. Not a valid comparison. Cool, I'm glad there are riders immune to damage. They are not immune to damage - all the riders are just one crash away from disaster. But in Marquez's case, he has two bum shou...
