Re: Round 14 - Gran Premio Octo di San Marino e della Riviera di Rimini Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli

Franky Morbidelli scored his only win last year at RSM, but clearly that will not be repeated. Quartararo finished eighth, so we could possibly maybe see the championship close up a bit. Mir was third last year, but has faded a bit. I expect Marc Marquez to be a factor here. We shall see. Franky ha...

Re: Round 9 Dutch TT (Assen)

Think Gerloff was the choice for a couple reasons, Raz is 2nd in the world superbike championship. Gerloff is american and Dorna wants an american in MotoGP. He turned some heads last year when in rode for Rossi during the friday practice. Yamaha doesn't have anything to lose by giving him the ride ...

Re: Round 9 Dutch TT (Assen)

Nice to see that they gave the chance to Gerloff, hopefully it's a bit of a job interview for next year. This weekend is going to be pretty tough, since he's never ridden at Assen before. Also with the changing conditions. Looks like it could be a weird weather weekend again. Would be good if FP3 is...

Re: Round 7 - Barcelona

He said something about the conditions wasn't quite right for yamaha. Talked about all the other yamaha guys having similar issues and not being able to run their expected pace. Frankie showed great pace all weekend and was nowhere in the race. Now that it's all over and he's had time to think about...

Re: Silly Season

Tech 3 might end up dropping both of their current riders. With Gardner coming up and if Fernandez keeps doing what he's doing, KTM will have to move him up also or risk losing him to one of the other factories. Might not happen, but it seems likely it could.

Re: SHARK Grand Prix de France - rd.5

Noticed during the race after the bike changes that some guys started with used wet tires. But Miller started with a medium front that already had 9 laps on it!!! Medium wets seemed to have great durability. Would liked to have seen a close up of Fabio's front tire after the race. One of the slo-mo ...

Re: Round 8, 2020 season, Barcelona baby

Think the virtual fan wall is live. Great race for Fabio and the late charge by the Suzukis was pretty special, but expected (at least from Mir). Sucks for Dovi, he had a great start and run to the first corner. Weird chain reaction that caused it all. Would have been great for Rossi to get the 200t...

Re: Round 8, 2020 season, Barcelona baby

Just watched the warm-up. In for a very interesting race. Cooler temps. Expect almost everyone to be on the soft tires. Think they'll be lots of crashes and quite a drop off in lap times late in the race. Mir has been a master of tire conservation lately in races so today might be his day. Seems lik...

Re: Round 8, 2020 season, Barcelona baby

Yes Yamaha has a holeshot device. There was quite a bit of news about it during the February tests. Not sure about Zarco always doing well when yamahas do. The last couple weeks at Misano he was pretty far back, now this week he's had some good hot laps. Looks like his race pace isn't bad. Looking l...

Re: 2020 world championship prediction

Yes for sure Mir has scored the most points in the last 3 races. That's even with the 4th place that could have been a win if it weren't for the red flag.

Re: 2020 world championship prediction

Definitely hard to make any predictions. Things seem to change all the time. Looking at all the scores each round so far here's a few things that stand out. Dovi only rider in the top 8 that has scored every round (Nakagami only other rider to score every round) Mir has 2 dnf's but his other 4 finis...

Re: MotoGP R6 23-08 BMW M Grand Prix of Styria Red Bull Ring Spielberg

Totally agree. If you go wide you should take a quick glance to where you're heading. Instead of just going to back the racing line with no regard for anyone else. Some riders do this all the time.

When Zarco did his long lap penalty, he looked left to make sure he was clear of Fabio.

Re: MotoGP R6 23-08 BMW M Grand Prix of Styria Red Bull Ring Spielberg

Think the tires on the race analysis are wrong also. During some of the practices they would show that a rider was running a medium front, but you could clearly see the yellow stripe indicating that he was running hard. This happened a few times, announcers also mentioned it. This race that started ...

Re: MotoGP R6 23-08 BMW M Grand Prix of Styria Red Bull Ring Spielberg

Is the 48 hour rule after anesthesia new? In 2013 at Assen Jorge Lorenzo crashed and broke his collarbone in FP2 on Thursday, flew back back to Spain and had surgery on Friday morning. Then went back to Assen and passed fitness test and rode the warm-up on Saturday morning. Then finished 5th in the ...

Re: MotoGP R6 23-08 BMW M Grand Prix of Styria Red Bull Ring Spielberg

Exciting race. Shame for the red flag, glad Vinales wasn't hurt. Mir had it and his the gap was growing, sorry for him in race 2. After Miller passed Espargaro in the last lap, I figured Espargaro would get him back later in the lap because of the way he had been riding turn 8. In the end it ended u...

Thought it looked to me like Dovi moved at the start also. Maybe he just got that much better start then everyone else. I caught it on one of the replays that they always show of the start. Pretty cool how many different ways we can see things now. I'll have to go back and watch again to see it, had...

Re: MotoGP R5 16-08-20 Grand Prix von Österreich

Think you're right. Stoner said he thought he heard Vinales' clutch was slipping from the onboard camera. So many talking points for MotoGP. Flipped over to the F1 race after MotoGP. F1 races are so much less entertaining. Only the 3 drivers on the podium finished on the lead lap! MotoGP has had 4 r...

Re: MotoGP R4 0908 Monster Energy Grand Prix České republiky Automotodrom Brno CZECH

Glad that Crafar made that tweet, think it's pretty clearcut from the helicopter shot. Hopefully Pol will realize that he basically threw away a podium and maybe chance to win, because he was acting like a crazy man trying to catch Binder. Would be cool to see the KTM's at the sharp end regularly. S...

Re: MotoGP R4 0908 Monster Energy Grand Prix České republiky Automotodrom Brno CZECH

Not sure about Simon Crafar's take on it not being Pol's fault. Did anyone else notice when he ran wide at the end of the lap, he was actually over the line to enter the pits? Then when he re-joined the racing line behind Fabio, Zarco had to back off to create a gap for him. Doesn't seem like he has...

Re: Silly Season 2016....

The 2016 signing that I cannot understand is Folger to Tech 3. Folger's results don't seem to justify the elevation. The same was said of Smith yet his 125 results were better than Folger's Moto3 and his Moto2 results on the non industry standard Mistral were only just less than Folger's. Folger's ...

Re: Michelin.

It is possible that the minimum tire pressures set by Michelin are a little too high, Smith thought, causing the tires to overheat From my experience, this is backwards. Higher pressure means less carcass deformation/flexing which generates less heat. I race sprint karts on asphalt and higher start...

Meh, I'm still upset at Marquez's crash. What are the early odds for Rossi winning Mugello? Anything better than 5/1 is worth throwing some hundred bucks away. That sounds about right to me, he's never gone that well at Mugello. Too much "Brrrwwww" going on around him as he said yesterday. Jo...

Re: 2016 Monster Energy Grand Prix de France

Rossi wins a race and suddenly he becomes unbeatable  Rossi, Lorenzo, Dovi Wouldn't say he's unbeatable, but he was fast in France last year also. Qualifying 7th last year definitely hurt him. And now he seems to have qualifying sorted. If Jerez is indeed a measuring stick for where riders sta...
