Re: Round 14 - Gran Premio Octo di San Marino e della Riviera di Rimini Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli

No rain, no challenge from Marc, and while I did pick Bagnaia for the win, Quartararo was *much* closer than I expected. So, I'm going to give myself 2/5 for predictions for this race. Bastianini for me was rider of the race, despite Bagnaia's defence. Surely he is earning a place in MotoGP next yea...

Re: Round 14 - Gran Premio Octo di San Marino e della Riviera di Rimini Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli

I am well behind on quali and other events up to now. How did Vinales get straight into Q1. Was that his dry lap from FP1? Bagnai is my tip for this race - perhaps not an exactly adventurous prediction. If not, then barring falls he'll probably outscore Quarataro and close up the championship a bit....

Re: Silly Season

Sam Lowes re-signs with Elf Marc VDS in Moto2. I think it's a good place to be, and I don't think anyone can say that Lowes isn't being given a fair crack of the whip. Now that his immediate future is assured, perhaps he can spend the rest of the 2021 season practicing staying upright. https://www.c...

Re: BSB 2021

I've finally seen the races. I'm watching BSB in a rather asynchronous manner. Every once in a while I check my telly to see if it has recorded any BSB or WSBK races, and if so I watch them. Agreed that the first race was a bit of a demolition derby, with rather a lot of what looked like ill-judged ...

Round 14 - Gran Premio Octo di San Marino e della Riviera di Rimini Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli

Last year this was Bagnaia's best result - a second place in a very poor year indeed with his best other result being a sixth place. Coming a week after Bagnaia's first win, perhaps we will see him shine here. Franky Morbidelli scored his only win last year at RSM, but clearly that will not be repea...

Re: MotoGP 2021, Aragon. Win or bin, which Marquez will show up?

Acosta's fall was his own fault, not that of Artegas.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Hs2dRz-mXI

So, just lucky that Garcia also fell off. Otherwise Acosta would have a significantly reduced lead in the championship.

Re: MotoGP 2021, Aragon. Win or bin, which Marquez will show up?

Pecco looked excellent in that race. I don't remember seeing a single mistake. Even under the incredible amount of pressure he was put under by Marquez. I think Marquez was pretty near perfect too. OK, he went wide on his pass attempts, but that's better than not trying at all, and shows how fine th...

Re: MotoGP 2021, Aragon. Win or bin, which Marquez will show up?

Well, there we have qualifying with the pole-sitter being a rider whom I never mentioned at all :D :D :D I feel that Marc will move forward and be at least challenging for the lead. Given what we've seen in previous races. If he stays upright I feel he's definitely in with a good chance of a win. Ma...

Re: MotoGP 2021, Aragon. Win or bin, which Marquez will show up?

After FP3, Quaratararo seems to be strong, and I predict a FQ pole. Most of my predictions turn out to be wrong, but I might as well. Both Marc Marquez and Paul Espargaro straight through to Q2, but the Honda is only looking there or thereabouts here. I predict that Marc will go for it in the race, ...

Re: MotoGP 2021, Aragon. Win or bin, which Marquez will show up?

MM93 dominates the first session, and then falls off early on in FP2. Still inside the combined top 10. It seems that MM93 can be fast on tracks that he's particularly suited for, but more inconsistent elsewhere. We'll see what happens in all following sessions, including the race, but these big fal...

Re: BSB 2021

I think the big question of last weekend is how Skinner managed to stay on that bike. They replayed it from multiple angles, each new angle making it look even less likely that would end well. The crashes due to oil were potentially horrific. I think there was quite a bit of luck involved that no ri...

Re: World SBK in 2021

I'm not too worried by the demotion of Razgatlioglu if he did actually exceed track limits. Is there any indication that the ruling is unsound? If not: it's normal for competitors to point out infractions by opponents and I don't think embracing at the end is a problem. Rea may not have been sure at...

Vinales to race for Aprilia from this weekend taking Savadori's bike. Savadori will get some wildcards + testing This will be very interesting to see. Almost nobody jumps on a new bike and beats the incumbent from the first race. So, what happens next race will likely not be the whole story. But, t...

Re: Will Marquez become the greatest racer of all Time?

I'm gonna wait until next year to really assess where Marc is at. Once he has a full winter to recover and HRC gets that time to fix the bike we can get a real assessment of where he's at. I do think the grid has moved a few steps forward in his absence. I think every factory has at least 2 riders ...

Re: Lolly Water British Gp

There were a couple of riders who went backwards rapidly so I'm assuming tyre issues. The commentator said that the Aprilia is easy on the tyres so if that's the case it would of helped Aleix get that podium, Aprila's first, is it Aleix's first? Rins first podium this year I think. Aleix had a podi...

Re: Lolly Water British Gp

Great race there. There may not have been much of a fight for the win, but the podium fight was much more interesting. Great result for Rins. Hopefully he can keep this up. Things were looking dark for him. The Espargaro brother who is my rider of the race is not the one I would have expected before...

Re: Rory Skinner

I've just seen some news on twitter via MotoMatters. "American Racing say they're hoping to bring Rory Skinner into Moto2 next year" Mat Oxley Rory's smiling race would be a real asset in the paddock. Can't find any other info right now. It sounds like a good move. He seems to have potential, but s...

Re: Lolly Water British Gp

Well that was an odd ending for Q2. I don't remember anyone predicting a P Espargaro pole. But Zarco having an obviously incorrect time for quite some time... that was confusing. Moto2 qualifying was much more normal. The KTM Ajo team are on the second row, but that's not too weird. In Moto3, Pedro ...

Re: Scott Redding to BMW

Baustisa went to Honda for the $$$, is Redding going to get $$$ too? I would guess that would be part of the reasons for the switch. But, I wonder if Redding would accept the $$$$ if he thought he was going to disappear into the midfield. I'd bet on Petrucci getting Redding's bike A pattern is deve...

Re: Lolly Water British Gp

Coming into this late this weekend, FQ is looking strong with half a second advantage in FP2. The Hondas are looking strong here, but sometimes they (or at least Marc) flatter in FP, only to fade a bit for qualifying. I'd have to go with FQ as favourite for this weekend. It'll be interesting to see ...

Re: World SBK in 2021

Interesting point about the timing of the rev limit changes. Given BMW's performance this year being good but not stellar, could Redding show up at a time when BMW is granted a boost comparative to their competition. I don't know the rules well enough - this might be impossible I don't know. Scott r...

Re: Scott Redding to BMW

I was very surprised to hear of Redding going to BMW. I wonder if the die was cast a few weekends ago when things were looking much less promising for Redding than they are now. His stated reasons were Ducati's failure to develop the bike. I can't see whom Ducati are going to get who would have a be...

Re: BSB 2021

I've only just caught up on last Weekend's racing. As already discussed above, O'Halloran is looking very strong. Not winning every race, but it's notable that 2nd and 3rd in the championship have a number of DNFs each. O'Halloran has won nine races, and nobody else has won more than two. That patte...
