Re: MotoGP R4 0908 Monster Energy Grand Prix České republiky Automotodrom Brno CZECH

I have always been a Honda fan, but now I’m happy to see what they can do without Marquez as a buffer. And I’m even happier to see how they will wiggle away from it in case it goes as bad as expected. I suspect Alberto will spin another fantastical yarn, perhaps he will even resort to a shaggy dog ...

Re: Moto GP schedual and the corona virus...

And again I go back to what I said before. In exceptional circumstances I expect that the sanctioning fee itself may have to become flexible through necessity. Not necessarily down to zero, but to something smaller as a compromise. Cocktail napkin math https://www.gpone.com/en/2016113037290/motogp/...

Re: Moto GP schedual and the corona virus...

In terms of the cost of running a race without an audience mentioned quite a bit up the thread - would it cost a lot more to run a race without an audience than it does to run one of the major tests? Because they certainly have tests. Could they make up the races with some double headers with races...

Re: Moto GP schedual and the corona virus...

I don't think any MotoGP event on earth is profitable in isolation, IE the track and promoter/syndicate making a profit just off the spectators and on-site food and souvenirs and stuff . I think some are profitable when supported by a share of the local economic benefit from spectator money at hotel...

Re: Qatar test 2020

Two aero bodies are allowed per rider per year.
First one must be homologated at Qatar.
The second can be homologated at any time.
That's all they are allowed to use.

If they could build a telescoping swingarm that flexed properly and was legal, I'm sure they would.

I bet Nakagami is happy he didn't succeed in his effort to get a '20 bike.

Mav, Q, and Rins are laying down serious race pace.

Re: Ducati holeshot device

The spring would be just a bit less than what it takes to hold the bike + rider up.

So no external power needed, only proper check-valve selection to let it settle under weight or pump up with bump action.

Re: Ducati holeshot device

My take on the device: Essentially, a bottle jack aided by a spring just a bit softer than what is necessary to hold the bike up. Said bottle jack/spring system is located amongst the rear suspension system, I imagine it's between the top shock mount and the frame, but it could be elsewhere. The but...

Re: Sepang test 2020

1) Given the tightly grouped times and paddock comments on Sepang being a good track to test at because it has some of everything, no.

2) I like Tito, I think he's had some raw rides, but I don't think he's near as fast as Zarco.

MM is facing an injury/surgery that is not recovering properly.
It may well be a career-limiting or career-ending situation.

Since Marc entered, the highest placed Honda rider not named Marc has been Dani, in 3rd.

Re: Sepang test 2020

I you guys aren't following @Anna_Maria_09 on twitter, give her a look. She crunches the data and creates charts like this: https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/49511678537_711a80b501_o.png That chart illustrates how brutally deceptive it is to focus on who's got the fastest lap. On combined times, M...

Re: Sepang test 2020

Petronas boys are fast, but they're riding an evolution of the '19 bike. I find it very interesting that spots 3-8 are one each of every manufacturer on the grid. MM is paying the price for his bad habit of hanging onto the bars too long when he crashes. That's going to permanently fuxxor a shoulder...

Re: engine design

I4 design has some advantages over the V4, it allows bike configurations that tend to turn better.

Given the current state of affairs, apparently not enough of an advantage to overcome the V4s.

I almost feel like Marc would help Alex win a championship if the circumstances are right. All the GOATs love to do what's never been done.... brothers on the same team getting back to back WCs probably won't ever happen again. As long as MM is on the grid, AM's results will always have an asterisk...
