Re: Stoner's Book

I find it really weird you say that... I grew up in southern England, now live in Scotland and I am still yet to actually meet a 'Stoner Fan' (for want of a better expression). I saw him numerous times around the UK in the British 125's and he was even booed then - I have to say I didn't and still ...

Re: Stoner's Book

Out of interest were the old 750 strokers more wild than the 500's? ( I raced both a TZ750 and an RG500 back in the day, they were pretty much equally difficult to ride quickly, but for different reasons. Th 750 was a relatively tame engine, smooth with good low down torque and a broad spread of po...

Re: Burgess staying home in 2014?

A few thoughts Burgess was fairly vocal on the issue that while Rossi certainly wasn't washed up by any means, winning another championship would be a very big ask. Paraphrasing, he said something like, 'you don't stay young forever...things have moved on...the level is higher now' etc. If true I a...

Article http://www.motorcycle-usa.com/811/14494/Motorcycle-Article/Backmarker--Bridgepoints-Messy-Marriage.aspx on the politics of the issue. Re: Round 13: Portimao *SPOILERS*

Apparently not a whole lot of interest in those silly streetbike races around here? ;) Kinda bummed for Melandri. Had a great run at the title this year but has now pretty much tossed it away. Bruised kidneys can't be much fun either. Same for Sykes, after race one and a good start in race two his ...

MOTM Rossi, good to see him looking like he actually wanted to be out there.
Dotm, Pedrosa's crew, not good enough, mistakes like that shouldn't happen at that level.

Re: A few things that have always bugged me...

4 - What if DORNA adopted a score dropping point system exactly to allow injuries to have less of an impact on the title race. Say, for example, keep the best 15 results of the season, drop the rest. Has it ever been suggested? Wasn't something like this implemented in the early 90's when the 500s ...

Re: A few things that have always bugged me...

OK, firstly - Why did Honda put Nicky Hayden on the RC211V in 2003 instead of Colin Edwards? Edwards had just won the WSBK title for them in dramatic fashion, winning like 11 races in a row or something - why would you give the AMA guy the ride? Also Poggiali in 2004 - Why wouldn't Honda have given...

Re: 2012 Round 12 Brno Race Topic ***Spoilers***

If Bradl picks up 15 more points this season, he will have had a better debut season on the LCR Honda than a certain Casey Stoner. Against what we all agree is tougher competition. Is this a real star in the making? Thoroughly impressed with his maturity and consistency this year and way above my e...

Re: MOTM Indy ***spoliers***

His best result was on the original GP11, which he then binned in order to ride the GP11.1 or whatever it was. Maybe if he had persisted with the GP11, and learned to ride it properly, his results would have improved? Carry that through to it's logical conclusion, as the GP11.1 was the planned bike...

Re: MOTM Indy ***spoliers***

Remember Hayden's crash that brought out the red flag during QP? Immediately after that Rossi went out and saved a highside at the same place on the track and thought there was a problem with the bike. My point has never been that Rossi didn't have a bad weekend, it's that we've seen Rossi and Duca...

Re: MOTM Indy ***spoliers***

If Rossi's performance compared to Hayden can only be explained by him not trying then when did he stop trying? Valencia 2010? Did he decide to half ass it before his first season on the Ducati had begun? I would say within the first half of his first season, yes. His best result was on the origina...

One of the things I find fascinating about GP is the technology(maybe because I'm an engineer?) Ever since I was a kid I used to marvel at the GP bikes , there has always been distinct line of demarcation compared to everyday street bikes, and that's one of the reasons I can't warm to WSB, even thou...

+1 to this, there's nothing better than getting on a racetrack on a proper racing two stroke.

Just so I understand clearly, Rossi should have crashed trying to finish 35 seconds from the leader in 7th rather than finish 55 seconds back in 7th? Are we rooting for injuries now? Maybe I should post up the Hayden or Simoncelli crash videos for you guys? Don't be an idiot. Actually, dave and tom...

Re: MOTM Indy ***spoliers***

D. The problems with the Ducati are a leveling factor that cuts Valentino's lead over Nicky. The lesser capabilities of the bike make the margin between the two smaller. Also, Nicky's style may simply be better suited to the bike. The more difficult a machine is to master, the more it should exacer...

I see no difference (their personal slanging matches aside) between Stoner , the last year on it in particular, and Rossi. Hayden was outplacing and qualifying Stoner. Re: MOTM Indy ***spoliers***

Forget placings, it's the lack of effort that shits me. Fact, Rossi is a superior rider to hayden, there is no disputing that, yet Hayden was over a second quicker than Rossin in QP, and has outqualified him in 9 of the 11 races so far, you have to ask why? Rossi is currently only 7 points ahead of ...

I would disagree there, I think money has killed most forms of racing, and it just so happens that the manufacturers have more of it than most.

Wow, people still have expectations for the Rossi/Ducati combo this year? Here are the top finishing Ducati position in the dry races so far this year: 6, 8, 7, 7, 7, 6, 6, 5, 6, 7. Why would it change when there haven't been any significant updates to the bike? (It's hard to be disappointed if you...
