Re: Is Valentino Rossi finished?

Rant: I personally feel that wins are unlikely at his age, but IMHO he might have fared a bit better towards the end of his career - at least it would have been a bit less rocky - had he retained the services of Burgess. I mean, one can understand why Rossi thought he needed a 'change', but JB was a...

Will be interesting to see how Zarco handles the race.
He really would want to beat Bagnaia and hence might well be in a, umm, determined mood to make progress through the pack

Re: MotoGP R5 16-08-20 Grand Prix von Österreich

Fuck what a race...that was a right cunting mess in between. Was a little saddened by the subdued celebrations in the Ducati pits. Rossi's face in the pits was that of a really flustered person if there ever was one. Insane shit. A weak-kneed dumbfuck like me would have jumped the fence and hitched ...

Re: MotoGP R3 26-7-20 Gran Premio Red Bull de Andalucía

Rossi? I know the team had JB, Doohans crew and was essentially a factory team but was it considered a ‘proper’ factory team like Repsol was? My recollection is.. (although it's getting a bit hazy!) that that was a full factory HRC bike alongside the Repsol bikes of Criville and Ukawa. Jerry Burges...

Re: Jerez 2020 - Gran Premio Red Bull de España

Not to take anything away from Marc, which was nothing short of superhuman (and the save could not have been made by anyone else on the grid) but the conditions I think did play to his strengths. It was almost like a wet track with riders battling the slippery conditions, and that is where Marc exc...

Re: 2020 world championship prediction

I wouldn't be too sure about how dominant Marc actually can be, over the season - with or without the injury. He has always been extremely dominant in very-low-grip situations, something which we have seen many times before. So in a way, it was business as usual yesterday - trademark supernatural sa...

IMHO if there's even been an instance of 'polar opposites' in the context of two highly talented individuals operating at some fearsome peak of their game, that's got to be Marc and Dovi - I mean, based on their respective 'antics' today

Re: Andrea Dovizioso: Undaunted

Motor maybe the Ducati family is like many real families, a little disfunctional. Yeah that makes sense... Also, I guess these brands have their individual character maybe - cultivated in-house over the years in a top-down fashion. I think it was in Rossi's auto bio, I remember reading the comparis...

Re: Andrea Dovizioso: Undaunted

One thought that flashed through my head intermittently while watching Driven in Netflix is about the distinct lack of fun in F1 team meetings, press conferences, and general pit atmosphere et al - a rather morose/somber/tense affair all in all. As seen from Undaunted, my perspective of course, the ...

Re: Moto GP schedual and the corona virus...

Assuming that the 20' championship does happen albeit with a severely reduced race count, will there be a proportional reduction in the number of engines? Else I suppose the factories can afford to really turn up the wick and we could see some insane top speeds, maybe even some post-race burnouts? :D

Re: Hubris

I agree with Kenup283. I think the legend of the Honda's un-friendliness was due to a mix of Lorenzo's troubles as well as sharp criticism from Crutchlow. Of course, why would Marquez go against all that and say, No I disagree, the bike is easy to ride. He's raking in the wins, and supporting the 'n...

Not a bad start for Zarco in FP1.

As impossible as it is, I just wish for a rain-washed mishmash clusterfuck of a race with Zarco, Lorenzo and Rossi ending up on the podium.
Sigh.

I had a casual interest - till 2006.

I think it was Sachsenring 2006 that did the trick for me.

Re: Puig is scum, and Honda is in crisis

The way I understand how factories work is that feedback from riders get reduced to specific issues which then go as 'bug reports' or 'feature requests' to specific teams (electronics, engine, chassis, etc) - not very unlike a software business. Each bug report would have a specific priority, and it...

https://www.motorsportmagazine.com/opinion/motogp/lorenzo-we-will-win-every-race Crutchlow was even more outspoken. “Jorge is going to have the biggest shock of his life – he’s living in a dream world!” said the Briton, who has won three MotoGP races with Honda over the past three seasons. “I told ...

Honda is not exactly averse to employing riders with highly contrasting styles - they did exactly that way back in 2005 with Biaggi and Hayden

But then I suppose that RCV was a much more well rounded machine as compared to the present one

Will be interesting to see how Marquez deals with this track...particularly with Honda in its powerup mode, the suzukis working quite well...and a seemingly resurgent Maverick.

Perhaps VR is hell bent on proving that one can exquisitely complicate one's existence without necessarily resorting to (JL's preferred method of) multiple brand/bike hopping :D

My money is on Rins and Marc duking it out...
