Re: Spanish Civil War! (Michael Scott article from MCN)

Indeed, but don't forget how much money the BBC used to pump in to ensure there was a British rider in the mix. The 'manipulation' isn't new. Scott's article was typical of a syndicated column filler. Few hundred words wrapped around a couple of sentences of off-handed commentary. But that's his ta...

Re: Hondas Production Racer MotoGP Machine

That is great news, considering Bluesens spent 600k Euro on the Kawasaki based bike the HRC machine is looking very good. This is the rule that should have been introduced at the start of the 4T era. Every second tier team would be looking very hard at that package, with the option of upgrading or s...

Jan Thiel has put a lot of his thoughts on FB as he was there that dark day at Monza. Classic Racer has a great article on Jarno and more about the big impact he made in a short period.

Re: Yamaha goings on.

I'd be very interested to see how those times compare to SBK shift times, particularly the Yamaha's. 35ms to shift a standard transmission is amazingly quick as it is. 35ms is the time interval you shift with a quickshift connected to a 30 yr old gearbox. The Patents for the HRC system and Zeroshif...

Re: WHO'S IN TROUBLE ?

David Goldman (boss of Gold & Goose) and one of the Ducati engineers (whose name I forget, but it was an Italian), were doing burnouts late at night in the car park at Qatar. The circuit owner reported them to the police, the police came, and Goldman tried to do a runner. They failed. Got flung in ...

Re: Time to ban Honda's seamless gearbox?

I could live with carburetors. I don't see a need for that at all. and all those expensive titanium exhaust are not needed. expansion chambers can be made out off plain steel  There is a pretty big advantage in using Ti instead of steel for chambers, not for weight either, Ti hold heat bet...

Re: STONER RACING V8's

Some of you out there in other countries may not know much about the V8 supercar series, where it came from or who’s in it. Anyway, you may not have heard of V8s, seen the racing or heard of their people but you may like to know what they’ve achieved here. In a small sponsorship market (Australia) ...

Re: If I had a lazy ten million I would probably do this.

Track days at the farm are $600 no drama to get a start, get more riding than 2 days at Eastern Creek. My friend who got his pilots licence at Warnervale airport told me about this at least 10yrs ago, it wasn't as big back then and he used to call it a 'driveway'. If only it could become a permenant...

I agree with your overall point, but the Cagiva circa 1991 having 'all the telemetry in the world' ? Come on. This was the era where Pons having on-board data recording in the form of a 3 1/2" floppy was high tech. But you have to look at in context... At that moment in time it WAS advanced and gav...

Criville isn't responsible for the crowd behaviours, Criville had Doohan covered, fair and square, Doohan knew that too. That was a porly executed 'square up' on Criville's behalf, I think the plan was to Liberace Mick and knock him off and win ala Caparossi/Harada. As a small aside to whatever else happens this weekend at P.I.: it is the 10th anniversary of the first P.I. following the death of Barry Sheene. Barry was totally loved by the Oz motorsport community, and every year thousands of Oz motorcyclists ride in tribute to him to the circuit and around the...
