Re: Silly Season

Just watching WSBK and hope, for the sake of that series, that there is SOME truth to the rumours about Rea going to Petronas! :D Christ big fish in a small pond doesn't cover the half of it.. Rea will be 35 next year, if he's going to do something great in MotoGP he has to join for 2022 or forget ...

Re: Grande Prémio 888 de Portugal - Rd 3

MM was well down the time sheets in warmup but as you know the data on these session doesn't necessarily reflect the race Marc sat out the first half of the warm up and only completed 4 slowish laps. Apparently his right arm muscles (not the bone) are getting weaker and more painful as the weekend ...

What a Moto3 race. We may have a new Marquez in the mix. Congratulations Pedro Acosta, one of the best rides I have seen in 45 years of following this sport.

The opening round of the ASBK at Phillip Island has been postponed due to the covid outbreak in Victoria. The first round will now be Winton on March 14 ...... maybe.

Re: Silly Season

So-so Wayne.
A road trip to a decent MotoGP race in Italy would help and fortunately my 2020 plans will transfer to 2021, as will my DFDS Seaways booking! :)

Well fair seas and good racing my friend. :)

It is Rins on the front row (3rd), Mir is in 12th, he had no speed in Q2.

With the trouble Yamaha are in with their engines I wonder if Franko's engine is salvageable (unlikely IMO) or is that second now gone from his allocation of five.

Marco Melandri also finished 2nd behind Rossi in 2005 on the Gresini Honda; albeit 140 odd points behind with Rossi at the peak of his powers.
I loved his win at Phillip Island that year, smoking up the rear tyre while giving the peace sign to the crowd. :D

Rins has dislocated his shoulder in his fall in Q2 and has been declared unfit for the race,
That makes fighting or the championship in a shortened season all the more difficult,

I think you mean Rins MB. Vinales was 5th, Rins missed out finishing 12th.

Never mind I see you have edited your post, :D

Good point about Zarco. He didn't even come into my reckoning, probably because of his spasmodic career as you suggest.

Re: Silly Season

Speedweek are reporting that Takaaki Nakagami is to re-sign with LCR alongside Alex Marquez for 2021. It appears Cal's only option if he wants continue would be Aprillia. KTM won't have him due to his Monster sponsorship. If he does go to Aprillia it would be the fourth manufacturer he has ridden fo...

Seeing reports that Dovi has crashed hard from a MX bike and is being treated for a suspected broken collarbone. If true it potentially throws a huge spanner in Ducati's works close to season start.

Rumour has it that Pol Espargaro is on the verge of signing with Repsol Honda for 2021 with Alex Marquez to be moved to LCR Honda. Interesting move if true.

Re: Moto GP schedual and the corona virus...

Contracts can always be modified (or ignored) by mutual consent of the parties who...

Now confirmed. Jack Miller has signed with the factory Ducati team for 2021. It is a one year deal with an option to extend to 2022. Damn - look at this! In Robert's case it is largely down to a bike change and increased input from the team. Last year he was stuck on the KTM which in its original form in 2019 was a lemon. The KTM only showed potential in the 2nd half of the season after 5 or 6 new frames. AFAIK the new frames were only given to Binde...

Re: Moto GP schedual and the corona virus...

I would assume that DORNA would get most of its income from sanction fees and television rights where as the track owners would rely on spectator entry fees for the majority of their income. A spectatorless race would be great for DORNA but disastrous for the track owners unless some sort of profit ...

Re: Qatar test 2020

HRC were trying many variations of hybrid bikes to try and get a handle on what is causing their turn in problems which appear to be worse than last year's bike. They used one of Nakagami's 2019 bikes as well as some parts from 2017/18 to run back to back comparisons. In the very last minute of the ...
