The closing act once more, the Moto2 class had some twists and turns in store, with pole position being disputed by the three main actors from practice. Joe Roberts posted the top time early into Q2 and despite attempts to dethrone him, the American secured his second pole position of the season by over a tenth of a second. Sam Lowes took a risk by joining the track late for his time attack but made it work and got second position out of it. Enea Bastianini was another contender early on, but got demoted to the final place on the front row.
Hafizh Syahrin finally found his way towards the business end of proceedings by qualifying fourth, sharing the second row of the grid with Marco Bezzecchi and Jorge Martin. Marcel Schrotter opens row three from Augusto Fernandez and Q1 fast man Fabio Di Giannantonio, while Luca Marini will be somewhat disappointed by his 10th place on the grid. He will face stiff competition from his fourth row companions, Jorge Navarro and Xavi Vierge.
Rookie Aron Canet had a low key session down in 15th, while Tetsuta Nagashima was amongst the riders who missed out most in Q1 and will be starting all the way down in 21st grid position, five places ahead of Tom Luthi.

Way to go Joe!
Sorry if this sounds too Ameri-centric, but it's great to see Roberts on the pole. And of course, given the popularity of world championship road racing here, this is headline news all over the US. Well, we can dream ... and at least hope for a set of clean, safe races tomorrow at bumpy Brno. Congratulations to Zarco too!
+1
Was hoping to see that Joe Roberts was for real after Qatar. Glad he found his mojo again after Jerez! And yes, glad to see an American up in the top 3 in Moto2, it's been forever. Let's see how it goes tomorrow.
Congrats to Johann Zarco, though does he have good race pace?
Weird to see Dovi and JM near the bottom. Even Petrucci is down in 8th and 0.767 off Pole.
And the two Repsol Hondas at the bottom of the order. Hmmm. Approx. 1.3 seconds off Pole, but in today's MotoGP, that may as well be, well...last.
