MotoGP Jerez Sick Bay Update: Marquez Out, Lecuona In

By David Emmett | Wed, 26/04/2023 - 09:23

The injury toll at season opener at Portimão continues to reverberate through the paddock. Marc Marquez is set to miss yet another race, as he continues his recovery from breaking his right thumb in the first laps of the race. Though his recovery is proceeding as expected, he has decided to sit out the Jerez round of MotoGP, and focus on a return at Le Mans.

His decision to miss another race is another sign of the dramatic reversal in the way Marquez views injuries. His rushed return after breaking his humerus in 2020 ended up costing him two years of his career, and he appears to have learned that there is little to be gained from rushing to return.

Paddock Pass Podcast Episode 330: Sergi Sendra, The Man Behind MotoGP's Stunning Visuals, Peter Bom On The State Of MotoGP, And A Jerez Preview

By David Emmett | Tue, 25/04/2023 - 09:02

In the latest episode of the Paddock Pass Podcast, Adam Wheeler, Neil Morrison, and David Emmett take a look ahead to the Jerez round of MotoGP, where the grand prix paddock returns to European soil and tracks they know so well. Part of the attraction of MotoGP is its stunning TV images, and Adam interviews Sergi Sendra, the man who has guided and helped create those TV images from the very beginning. Sergi talks about the development of the TV coverage, and how Dorna have approached innovations such as the 1000fps slowmo camera, the shoulder cam, onboard cameras, and much more.

David also sits down with Peter Bom at the Assen round of WorldSBK, where the pair discuss the latest tech developments in MotoGP, with a sprinkling of WorldSBK. David and Peter talk Toprak Razgatlioglu's MotoGP test, Alvaro Bautista's domination of World Superbikes, what Alex Rins' victory means for Honda, KTM's astonishing progress, and Ducati in MotoGP.
