2014 Mugello MotoGP FP3 Results: Impressive Pedrosa Takes Over

After a somewhat under whelming Friday performance Dani Pedrosa responded in the best possible fashion to post the quickest lap time for MotoGP FP3 at Mugello. Under glorious, sun-drenched conditions the Repsol Honda rider's time of 1:47.754 was only one tenth shy of the race lap record set by Marquez last year and put him two tenths clear of his team mate at the conclusion of the morning's session. Andrea Dovizioso got the maximum from his super soft tyres to finish in third ahead of the Yamaha pairing of Jorge Lorenzo and Bradley Smith. Smith put in a fantastic last ditch lap to vault into the top five after lagging outside the top ten for much of the session.

Valentino Rossi had to settle for the sixth quickest lap time but displayed strong and consistent race pace, he was ahead of Cal Crutchlow, Pol Espargaro and Stefan Bradl. Bradl had a high-speed crash with two minutes remaining but managed to walk away unharmed. Andrea Iannone completed the top ten and was the last of the automatic participants in this afternoon's QP2 session. Aleix Espargaro and Alvaro Bautista ended in eleventh and twelfth places respectively and will have to vie for a place in Q2 in the precursory session.

I don't know about impressive

Sure it was the fastest lap so far this weekend, but he was consistently slower over the remainder of the session. Its almost like he went out on his 14th lap with a new set of soft tyres, and threw a semi-qualifier down. Out of his 19 laps, Mark was in the 48s for 37 percent of them. Rossi was in the 48s for 60 percent of his laps. Jorge was 42 percent, Dani 33 percent, Dovi was 26 percent and Bradley was 11 percent.

Regardless of who is doing a single lap time, it would seem its a Marc and Vale show.

I'm not so sure..

I have a feeling Dani may have something for Vale and Marc come race-day.. Call it a hunch, I just think he and Lorenzo will be thereabouts, as per ususal. Here's hoping for a race long four-way scrap!

Never know

But based upon previous races. Dovi will qualify well but fade in the race, so largely irrelevant. Jorge will depend if he finds a setup that makes him consistently happy. Dani has been slow all weekend so far, but will have to see how he goes in the next two practices. But based upon the current data he doesn't appear to have solid race pace.

Would love a four way race from lights to flag.

Torpedo free event

Hopefully no torpedoes are loaded, let alone active..
This track is awesome.
I'm still jazzed up over WSBK at Donnington Park! That circuit seems to be awesome, flowing and natural, really really really FUN looking!
Mugello looks pretty cool too, I guess... (lol)(sarcasm)
This should be interesting... :)
