2013 COTA MotoGP Race Result
Race Results and summary for MotoGP:
Marc Marquez won his first MotoGP race at the COTA track in Texas and in doing so became the youngest top-class winner ever. What's more, he beat his teammate Dani Pedrosa in a straight fight, passing him on lap 13 for good. Jorge Lorenzo rode his M1 to a loney third place, followed by Yamaha's Cal Crutchlow and the Honda of Stephan Bradl in fifth.
But the story of the day was Marquez who sits tied with Lorenzo at the top of the championship after two rounds. At the age of 20 years 63 days, Marquez takes the youngest-premier-class-winner record from American "Fast" Freddie Spencer who was 20 years 196 days old when he won the Belgium 500cc GP at Spa-Francorchamps in 1982, also on a Honda. The following year, Spencer won the first of his two 500cc championships.
It was an all-Spanish podium in Texas with the next race in Jerez, Spain.
