Repsol Honda head standings at opening test of the year

Dani Pedrosa and Marc Márquez leave Malaysia after three days of strong results. Pair take first and fourth best times, respectively.

Repsol Honda’s two riders returned to action in Sepang after the winter break in top form. Dani Pedrosa could not be knocked from the top spot on the timesheets and managed to smash the circuit record with a 2’00.100 lap.

Pedrosa shared the spotlight with teammate Marc Márquez, who rode the Honda RC213V for the third time and once again was a standout. The Repsol rider undertook more than 800km over the three days and was fourth fastest at the Malaysian track. The Repsol Honda rookie is feeling more comfortable by the day with the bike and was able to gain more precious experience before the season’s start.

I'm getting excited...

Great to hear Dani and Marc's rundown of the test. Watching Marc pretty much getting his elbow down even around less sharp turns - he is going to be really fun to watch in MotoGP!

I noticed a small little flashing gadget sewn into the riders leathers on the forearm - is that from the team, message to go fast, ease off, or come in ? Or something else ?

arm gadget indicates that the airbag is, well, armed.

That MM is very young, brave, and talented. Hope he takes it to 'em. Seeing as I have no Ducati to root for, I'm all for the new kid.

No Kidding....

MM is sooo fast.... I thought he'd be good - but not this good. I can't belive how far he lays the bike over.

Also, it looks as if I am going to have to eat my words on Bradly Smith... Kid is doing very very well. I didn't think he deserved that seat - so far he's proving me to be very wrong.

Herve Ponchral has an eye for talent - because I said the exact same thing about Cal.... sheesh...

I am with you on Bradley Smith. Never saw why the announcers spoke of him. Other than them being British and he being the same. But I no longer question Herve Poncharal's judgement since Cal Crutchlow. He has an eye... no, a gift!

Sandbagging?

Those all-too-brief onboard segments indicate the Honda engine is only reaching ~15,300 RPM before the riders shift. This is about 1300 lower than what they were running at the end of last year. I'm thinking that Honda is rather keen to avoid any more last-minute 'Safety Tires' being shoved up their kimono.
