Single Bike Rule Dropped For 2010, Dunlop Confirmed As Moto2 Tire Supplier
The number of rule changes introduced in MotoGP recently has been so vast, that the FIM has seemingly adopted a new strategy, issuing press releases to confirm that the rules WON'T be changed. Today, a press release was issued to say that for the 2010 season, the rules on the number of bikes per rider and the event schedule will remain unchanged. Teams will be allowed to scrutineer two bikes per rider, and practice sessions will remain at 60 minutes.
The single bike proposal was dropped after it became apparent that the manufacturers would not be providing extra bikes for riders if it had been adopted. The added complication this would create in flag-to-flag races and in qualifying sessions made this all but impossible to get through.
The single tire announcement for Moto2 was reported here earlier, and was confirmed by the FIM.

The Grand Prix Commission, composed of Mr. Carmelo Ezpeleta (Dorna, Chairman), Claude Danis (FIM), Hervé Poncharal (IRTA) and Takanao Tsubouchi (MSMA), in the presence of Messrs Vito Ippolito (FIM President), Ignacio Verneda (FIM Sport Director), Javier Alonso (Dorna) and M. Paul Butler (Secretary of the meeting), in a meeting held on June 26 in Assen (The Netherlands), decided unanimously the following:
MotoGP
It has been confirmed that:
1. Teams may present a maximum of 2 motorcycles per rider for technical control.
2. The practice schedule will remain the same as the current schedule:
Friday afternoon: 60 minutes
Saturday morning: 60 minutes
Saturday afternoon: 60 minutes
Moto2
After consultation with various tyre manufacturers, Dunlop has been chosen as the single tyre supplier for 3 years.
The wheel sizes will be limited to:
FRONT: 3.75” X 17” ONLY
REAR: 6.00” X 17” ONLY
